Vehicle Description
1988 Toyota 4Runner SR5. This is my dream rig. It's been set up by
the previous owner with options that cost thousands of dollars. It
is originally a California vehicle that spent most of its life in
California. The frame, suspension and undercarriage look amazing.
Vehicles look like this underneath the thing is 35 years old. It
has a solid axle conversion which was out of an '85 4Runner and has
an e-locker I think from a Land cruiser but I'm not sure which
year. It has a 3.4 V6 in it which is powerful and incredibly
reliable and even has headers on it out of a 2001 Toyota Tacoma and
has More power than any first gen 4Runner I've ever been in.. The
rear axle complete is also out of the same 2001 Toyota Tacoma with
an E-Locker in it. It has dual transfer cases from Marlin crawler
and I even have a receipt or two that the previous owner spent at
Marlin crawler. It has 35-in tires on it and I would estimate 80 or
90% tread. BFG all-terrains. It is the SR5 model with cruise
control which works great as does the air conditioning, power
steering, power brakes etc. It also has a sunroof. I purchased this
approximately 18 months ago with the intent of keeping it forever.
I've had five of these first gen 4Runners by now and by far this is
the best outfitted and nicest one I have owned. But I need to build
a shop right now. So I am selling it to build a shop because it is
a business venture and I will be making money out of the shop. The
rig is not perfect as anyone would expect for something 35 years
old. There is one small area on the front fender which has some
surface rust. I've included a picture. The aftermarket radio which
is a nice unit needs to be mounted properly. Also on the passenger
side right vent on the dash the previous owner damage the dash a
little bit. The clutch slave cylinder has been slowly leaking and
so I have purchased a new slave cylinder and new clutch master
cylinder.
