This was born a Marina Blue Super Sport with a 138 VIN. It was
restored to look stock. What people won't be aware of is the 502
motor lurking under the hood! Unless you open the exhaust dumps,
then I think neighbors in the next subdivision might figure out
this isn't a stock SS.
EXTERIOR: The fit and finish is exceptional! The body is laser
straight. Repainted its original color Marina Blue, the paint is
slick and glossy. The bumpers are rechromed, the grill looks
refinished. All new glass was installed with a soft ray tint. New
tires have been fitted to the 15 inch rally wheels.
INTERIOR: It has been restored to original specs with the exception
of Dakota Digital gauges. It has bucket seats with a factory
console and shifter but it is updated with an overdrive indicator.
The upholstery was replaced. The door panels, armrests and handles
were replaced. Headliner looks new, dome light works. You will be
gripping a new 2 spoke deluxe wheel. Seat belts have also been
added.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The original 396 is long gone and has been
upgraded with a ZZ502 GM crate motor in its place. It is claimed to
be making over 615 hp! It has 4 bolt mains, forged crank and GM
aluminum heads. On top is a polished air gap Edelbrock intake, 850
Quick Fuel carb, HEI ignition and a great looking set of cast
aluminum valve covers. It also has a set of 2 inch ceramic coated
headers, billet brackets and pulleys, serpentine belt, premium fuel
line and fittings. It runs cool with a BeCool radiator and aluminum
water pump. It features power steering with a billet pump and power
brakes. It is a very clean, uncluttered engine bay.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Inside is solid and has a spatter finish, under
the trunk lid has some paint lifting. The weathersrip and mat were
replaced.
UNDERSIDE: It has a new front suspension; it's actually detailed
and glossy. Upgraded fatter sway bar and Competition Engineering 3
way adjustable shocks. The back is completely upgraded with
Edelbrock adjustable upper and lower control arms, chassis brace,
new springs with individually adjustable air bags and 3 way
adjustable shocks. Custom exhaust with series 50 Flowmaster
mufflers and if you are feeling a bit menacing you can open up the
electric dumps and rattle windows! The fuel tank and lines were
replaced. It has disc brakes in front, the e-brake cables are
hooked up. Looking up at the motor it is clean and has a high
torque starter. The trans was upgraded with a 200R-4 overdrive
automatic. It was performance built by Janis Transmissions and has
a lock up torque converter. The rear end was replaced with a heavy
duty Currie 9 inch and 3.70 posi gears. The combination of the
trans and the rear with 3.70 ratio makes this not only race ready
but also a great highway cruiser.
SERVICE: Going through our shop inspection we fixed a few little
things: The turn signals, replaced the wiper motor and reinstalled
a window crank.
This is a true American Muscle car. If the signature Marina Blue
color doesn't turn heads, wait until you open those cut outs and
hear the chop of the cam and 502 big block. It will get lots of
attention no matter where you take it. Overall, the drivability and
quality of this restoration gave us a great feeling about this
car.
A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am
offering is my professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen
are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your
questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a
walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail.
