Vehicle Description
1992 Chevrolet Blazer
The Chevrolet K5 Blazer is a full-size sport-utility vehicle that
was built by General Motors. GM's smallest full-size SUV, it is
part of the Chevrolet C/K truck family. Introduced to the Chevrolet
line for the 1969 model year, the K5 Blazer was replaced for 1995
by the Chevrolet Tahoe. The third generation was simply called
"Chevrolet Blazer", without the K5 name. In 1970, GMC introduced
its own model of the truck, called the Jimmy, which was
discontinued in 1991 and replaced by the Yukon. The "Jimmy" name
was chosen to reflect how GM may sound in a similar manner to how
Jeep was thought to be a pronunciation of GP in the competing
market. Both were short-wheelbase trucks and available with either
rear- or four-wheel drive.
For consignment, this very clean 1992 version of the full size
Blazer in well optioned trimmings. It has a laundry list of recent
upgrades and repairs, has 148,615 title verified original miles,
and drives like new. Will go through anything with plenty of 5.7
liter V8 power and a rebuilt 4-speed automatic transmission. Get
your motor run-in, lookin' for adventure in whatever comes your
way...born to be wild!
Exterior
This larger size model of 1992 is bathed in Brilliant Blue
Metallic, has excellent rust free straight galvanized steel panels,
consistent gaps, and polished stainless wheel lip moldings. A
chrome grille and chrome bumper with black highlighting, halogen
headlights, along with blackout trimmings, lightly tinted windows,
and black above the rocker moldings is a bit menacing in its tall 4
x 4 stance. The high stance and blocky design really add to the big
rig feel as well. 16-inch alloy wheels are finished in silvers have
been installed on all 4 corners and are shod in 265/75R16 knobby
Kelly rubber. A clamshell rear gate opens both from the glass and
from the gate for extra storage of gear, and a bumper hitch tow
package installed, your options are limitless within the openness
of the wilds harkening.
Interior
Two tone blue custom cloth high back seats with twin fold down
armrest flank a large central console again with more storage
space. In back is a comfortable bench which can fold away to reveal
a large cargo area. When up with passengers, there is plenty of
room behind it for gear. The door panels remain very clean, as does
the carpet, and headliner. Within this headliner is a triple fold
down storage compartment for remotes, glasses, and other sundry
small items. The original square and rectangle design dash, very
clean, fronts the seats and holds not only the factory gauges
including the tachometer but a multitude of push buttonsand lights
as well as the digital climate controls and a new AM/FM/CD stereo
with new speakers. Your 4 x 4 shifter is installed on the center
hump under the dash and power brakes, and power steering aid in
your descent from the high altitude excitement you've been to.
Drivetrain
5.7 liters of V8 power are under the hood and is looking just
wonderful with some patina and shine, all nice for the camera.
Obviously well maintained and cared for, it is fed by EFI and
backed up by a rebuilt 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission.
Turning the tires front and rear are 3.42 geared axles with a
locking rear differential. We note a new AC system has been
installed to keep you icy cold while traversing the Mojave.
Undercarriage
Very clean and surface rust on some usual suspects, however very
structurally sound. Power disc brakes up front, and power drums for
the rear with new rotors, calipers, pads and hoses are seen along
with new brake lines as well as a new fuel tank, fuel pump and
hoses. Variable ratio power steering for those hard to negotiate
trails, and independent torsion bar front suspension makes things a
bit less rocky. Leaf sprung rear suspension is on, and we are 4 x
4-in'.
Drive-Ability
This truck fired right up, idled smoothly, and ran like a champ
through and over the test track. No, our test track does not have a
mountain to climb, but I did put it into 4 x 4 drive mode, and all
was well, I just needed a foot of snow. All functions worked well
and this SUV provided a very comfortable environment to any
potentially harsh environment on the outside.
A rust free, well cared for, and lovingly used truck, now ready for
its 2nd trip around the odometer of climbs, swims, rocks, mud, and
dirt. Grab your groover, tent and some kindling, and enjoy the
great outdoors with full 1992 access, and total comfort.
