The F-series of Pickup trucks were released in 1948 and would go on
to make history. 2023 will celebrated their 75th anniversary of
being in production and these trucks continue to be the highest
selling vehicle overall which is a record they have held since
1981. Ford obviously found a strong position in the market and
today the classics are largely collectable. The naming system
changed from 1 number to 3 with the second generation and remains
in place today. This F100 belongs to the 2nd generation and is the
1/2 ton model. The truck has been fully restored and turned into a
restomod that performs and shows very well. It has right around
5000 since the build so is still in nice fresh condition. The
original body is in great shape and coated in a very clean light
Silver paint that takes on a bit of a Blue hue in certain lights.
The front emblem on the nose has been removed and the grill painted
to be a combination of Dark Silver and chrome. This gives it a
really slick looking front end. The chrome, trim, and emblems that
remain in place all have a very nice shine. The glass is in good
condition throughout and has a slight tint. The bed has all new
wood with stainless steel runners which look great. The bed has
also been modified by enclosing the side pieces in the rear and
also changing up how the gate is mounted to eliminate the original
style chains. The truck sits on 17 inch American Racing wheels
wrapped in Dunlop tires.
You see so many restomods with Chevy drive trains nowadays so it is
very cool to pop the hood and see a professionally built 302 V8 in
place. The motor is nicely dressed up with a lot of chrome touches
like the Ford Racing valve covers , chrome alternator, and chrome
air cleaner. The engine compartment is very clean and painted to
match the exterior. Looking at simple details like how the hoses
are routed you can tell a lot of though and care went into how the
truck was put together. It has an aftermarket aluminum radiator
with custom cover and a shroud for the fan. The truck sounds great
with ceramic coated headers into Magnaflow mufflers that exit
through chrome tips below the rear bumper. The Automatic
transmission with overdrive shifts smoothly and transfers power
back to the 10 bolt rear end. The front end is a Mustang II style
set up and has power disc brakes. It also has had power steering
and air conditioning added.
The interior is all nicely upholstered in a Silver color to match
the body. The bench seat has a folding arm rest with cupholders and
chrome lap belts. The door panels are custom designed and fitted
with billet aftermarket handles. The headliner is very nice
featuring a courtesy light and an overhead console to houses the
JVC AM/FM/CD player. The dash has been kept very clean with a
custom underdash unit to house the Vintage Air adjustable vents. On
the painted dash are the Vintage Air controls and Classic
Instrument gauges in a custom bezel. The painted tilt column
utilizes billet levers and has a Boyd Coddington steering
wheel.
This is a very well put together truck that is in excellent
condition. It is a regular show winner and gets complements
wherever it goes.
