This is a genuine Shelby born like you see it. Very desirable blue
4-speed car! It is listed in the Shelby registry, and it was a
district show car for Shelby. It is also documented with a Marti
Report. It had 1 owner from the early '80s until 2009, it was
parked the last 10 of those years. The gentleman we acquired it
from bought it and had it restored by Mustang Restorations.
EXTERIOR: What a great looking car! At it's core it is a Mustang
fastback then Shelby brought it to the next level. They gave ab
unique fiberglass front end including the extended fenders and hood
both filled with air scoops. It also has fiberglass trunk lid and
end caps with the dovetail fin. The side scoops are functional
delivering air the brakes. The body and paint were professionally
redone by Mustang Restorations. There's no rust or damage,
everything fits very well including the fiberglass parts. Repainted
it's original and very desirable Acapulco Blue. It's laid out
evenly and polished to a very wet high gloss finish. Correct
reflective Shelby stripes. Up front it has the unique Shelby grill
in very good shape and the correct Lucas fog lamps. In back it has
the unique sequential taillights and the exhaust coming out through
the valance. The windshield was replaced. It is sitting on correct
15 inch Shelby style wheels wrapped in BFG tires.
INTERIOR: Shelby also took the deluxe interior to the next level.
The Shelby package included a roll bar with retractable shoulder
belts, a unique console with toggle switches and SW gauges.
Overall, very good shape: good original molded door panels,
reupholstered high back bucket seats and rear fold down seat. The
carpet was replaced and has the red sewn in mats. Headliner and
visos are excellent. The dash pad is excellent. Instrument panel is
really good, not cut up or broken. It has a factory tachometer,
rare power ventilation system and the clock is rebuilt with quartz
movement. The interior lights work including in the glove box. It
has a retro stereo in the factory hole. The deluxe wheel with a
Shelby logo is on a tilt away column.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The engine compartment was restored by Mustang
Restorations to stock specifications. It has the believed to be
original 428 Cobra Jet motor. It has correct casting codes. It was
taken apart, magnafluxed, rebuilt and upgraded with hardened
valves. The motor has stock components: manifolds, distributor,
brackets, finned aluminum valve covers and the functional ram air
system on top. It features power steering and power brakes. The
components look clean and proper. The engine bay is clean metal
painted it real nice, cadmium plated fender bolts.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Under the trunk lid and the jamb are painted
very nicely. Inside is clean metal painted blue, under the mat is a
new gas tank. It has the correct jack and a modern donut spare. The
mat and weather strip were replaced. There's also a box of
miscellaneous extras that go with it.
UNDERSIDE: The torque boxes and frame rails are solid, new floor
pans were installed. It has disc in front, drum in back, the
e-brake is hooked up. The dual exhaust has resonators and
transverse muffler, and it exits through the original aluminum
exhaust port in the center of the rear valance. The steering and
suspension looks like it was gone through. It has the staggered
shocks in back. Looking up at the motor it is clean, fuel pump and
starter still look fresh. It has the correct top loader 4-speed
with the correct tag still attached. The drive shaft was recently
rebuilt. It has a traction lock rear with 3.50 gears.
SERVICE: After we inspected the car we repaired the reverse lights,
replaced the oil line to the gauge, had the amp gauge rebuilt,
installed a temp sensor, installed a new center cap on the wheel
and replaced the right manifold gasket.
The Shelby mystique still lives strong. Even today the modern
versions are as popular as ever. This is a solid investment that
will be a huge pleasure to own!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for
virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant
amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my
professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to
assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are
answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video
that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are
displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car, make an
appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment
there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car,
your admission will be refunded, and you will be given a 1 year
membership.
