THE KAISER VIRGINIAN
The 1952 Kaisers hit showrooms essentially unchanged from the 1951
models, returning with the same handsome Dutch Darrin-penned
styling and the quirky character that reflected Kaiser's staunch
independence. Lacking the budget to develop a full model range,
Kaiser offered the Virginian in Special or Deluxe trim, and in two-
or four-door body styles. Power came from the proven Supersonic
L-head inline-six, with the option of a Hydra-Matic
transmission.
THE CAR OFFERED
Distinctly styled and brimming with character, this 1952 Kaiser
Virginian Deluxe Club Coupe is a wonderfully preserved award winner
that has been cherished since day one. According to the consignor,
this car was purchased new by noted Kaiser expert and collector
Dave Murray, who kept it on display at a dealership for more than
25 years. It was shown at the 1976 Kaiser-Frazer Owner's Club
national meet, requiring only the restoration of the original
terrycloth seats in preparation. Since acquisition from the Murray
estate, the Kaiser has been meticulously preserved, down to its
Satin Blue over Mariner Blue paintwork, which is said to be mostly
original, with some light touch-ups noted. This car features many
appealing options, including a Hydra-Matic transmission, two-tone
paint, automatic cigar lighter, oil filter, and the factory
continental kit spare wheel. It has earned two prestigious and
well-deserved Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) Senior
Awards: a National First Prize in 1998 and Grand National First
Prize in 2008.
With just over 5,500 Kaiser Virginians produced in total for 1952,
you're not likely to encounter another one of these stylish coupes
as you waft along in comfort.
