The 2000 SVT Mustang Cobra R debuted as the fastest factory Mustang ever produced and was SVT's sole high-performance Mustang for the 2000 model year. Zoom Classic Cars is proud to present this exceptionally clean and tastefully modified 2000 Ford Mustang Cobra R. This vehicle is 1 of 300 originally manufactured R code Mustangs from Ford in 2000 and currently has just over 18,000 miles on it. The current owner purchased this car in 2013 out of California where it was first sold when brand new. This Cobra R comes dressed in the factory original Performance Red exterior that looks as shiny and perfect as the day it rolled off the assembly line. It is powered by its original 5.4 Liter and transfers the power to the rear wheels via the 6-speed manual transmission. After specific modifications this Mustang is truly a 1 of 1. The modifications were performed by Paul Svinicki who was a consultant to Ford Racing during the development of the car. Modifications to this specific Mustang have been done by Paul at his shop, Paul's High Performance in Jackson, Michigan, and include a Hurst shifter, Pro-Comp Ultra-Lite cluster/gauges, custom front tow hook, full Bassani side pipe exhaust, a custom intake induction system, IRS toe link bars, and pinion supports. All the original stock parts are included with the sale. After modification the rear wheel HP as indicated was 397 HP and translates to 456 HP at the crank (See Dyno Sheet in photos). Original specs were 385HP +/- at the crank. New slotted and vented Baer brake rotors were installed. The rotors are actually approximately 1" larger in diameter than the stock rotors. The original factory separation between the interior of the vehicle and the trunk mounted fuel cell was simply carpet attached with velcro. This has been upgraded with a full heavy gauge steel wall fastened to the existing rear seat frame to clearly separate the interior from the trunk. This has then been covered with the original carpet. This in fact makes the car "legal" in terms of an actual separation in lieu of just a piece of fabric. This Mustang is equipped with Factory Recaro bucket seats with RJS Racing harnesses. The interior is spotless and showroom clean. Showing off its performance nature, the Mustang R, lacks a rear seat, with no radio, air conditioning or extraneous instrumentation. Everything that could be cut to reduce the R's weight, was to enhance performance. It includes an aggressive front dam with brake cooling and a huge rear wing to keep the rear-end in check. The 2000 Cobra R had several distinguishing visual and performance features that allow one to easily identify it as something more than a normal 1999 or 2001 Cobra. The power dome hood is taller than the normal Cobra hood but was required to clear the large intake plenum which had separate "runners" for each cylinder. The rear spoiler is tall and wide, providing much needed down force at track speeds. The driving experience in the 2000 Mustang Cobra SVT R code is thrilling. With its high-performance suspension, upgraded brakes, and wider tires, it offers excellent handling and grip on both straightaways and twisty roads.
