1960 Volkswagen Beetle for sale! Motorcar Classics is proud to
present this 1960 Volkswagen Type 1 Beetle featured in black with
red interior. This is a true one-owner survivor with only 52k miles
that is still on its 1960 Connecticut title. In 1960, Volkswagen
sent 159,995 Beetles to the US, of which 117,868 were sedans like
our car. In May of 1960 a gentleman from Connecticut named Tony
purchased this car from Ralph D. Jones Volkswagen of Springfield,
MA. Tony was a decorated veteran of WWII and worked for an aviation
firm in CT. This VW was his only transportation for 44 years.
Sadly, Tony passed away in 2004. Having been driven only 52k miles,
the car passed into the personal collection of a gentleman who is a
licensed dealer, and it has been maintained and preserved as the
most original Type ! VW we have seen. The original CT title remains
in Tonys name, as he is the only registered owner. Everything on
this Beetle is original. It has never been taken apart or restored.
The paint, chrome, glass, upholstery; everything is VW factory
original. Furthermore, everything works and the car runs and drives
as well as it did in Tonys hands. It completed a two hour drive to
our showroom. There is just normal wear and tear and slight patina
befitting a 52k mile VW. Some typical corrosion is evident on the
trailing edge of the left side running board. Tonys parking sticker
with his name is still on the windscreen along with his parking
pass. The fellow who acquired the car has included photos of Tonys
house, across from the garage where he always parked the car, and
even a photo of Tonys headstone. He clearly loved the car these
past two decades as much as Tony did. This is a rare opportunity
for a VW enthusiast to be the second registered owner of this
cherished and preserved Volkswagen Type 1.
