The AK series was a range of pickup trucks sold by Chevrolet from 1941-1947. It was produced on the A platform which was shared with the Deluxe models. 1941 was also the model year when Chevrolet made a distinct split between passenger cars and pickup trucks. This particular example was acquired as a survivor by the employees of Marshall Salon Services in 2011 who gifted it to the owner as a thank you for being a great boss. Shortly after receiving it, it underwent a 3 year transformation which no expense was spared to make it the street rod you see. The heart of this beauty is a 350ci crate engine rated at 350hp. It is fed via an Edelbrock carb and intake, it is sparked with an electronic ignition and it sounds incredible ripping through its performance exhaust system. At the same time the new engine was installed it also received a new 700R4 tranny and the 12 bolt posi rear end has gears suitable for highway cruising. The front brakes were upgraded to disc and the suspension was gone through during which time it received new control arms, bushings, shocks and rear brakes. Prior to being repainted all of the door handles were shaved and replaced with poppers and all of the chrome work was replated. The paint is a gorgeous gloss black that is adorned with vinyl graphics which can be removed. It was painted about 12 years ago and there are a few small areas aging which we have shown close ups of. The exterior is set off by a sweet set of baby moons and radial whitewall tires. It has custom bucket seats with a new grey tweed interior, power windows were installed as was a custom sound system. It also received a new tilt steering column, power steering, all new VDO gauges and heat & A/C from Vintage Air. Everything is working as it should including the A/C which blows ice cold. All said and done over $50K was spent to make this sweet street rod what she is and that didn’t include the original cost of the truck. She fires without hesitation and she turns heads wherever she goes. It has only been driven 870 miles in the last 12 years so it is time for someone else to enjoy her.
