Vehicle Description
New for 1961, the third-generation Ford Thunderbird introduced a
dramatically restyled body that marked a decisive leap forward in
design from prior models. The graceful new shape, featuring
sculpted bumpers and continuous side trim lines integrating the
door handles, was soon referred to as the "bullet bird." This
pioneering new model, equipped with a "Swing Away" steering wheel
for easy entry and exit, a new 390-V8 engine, and Cruise-O-Matic
transmission, was used as the 50th Anniversary Pace Car for the
1961 Indianapolis 500, and was also featured in the inauguration
parade for President John F. Kennedy.
This 1961 Ford Thunderbird is an older restoration, but a gorgeous
example of these iconic full-size coupes. The vehicle is finished
in metallic blue (with a white roof) over blue leather upholstery.
This Thunderbird is in great running condition and ready to be
enjoyed - having been freshly serviced and fully detailed. Powered
by a 390 cubic-inch V8 engine mated to a 3-speed automatic
transmission, this 61 T-Bird is the ultimate two-door cruiser
inspired by the jet-age.
