Here is still another stunning classic example, a 1966 Pontiac GTO
brought to you by Joe Basil Classics. The Basil family has worked
diligently to bring you fine new and used automobiles and
excellence in service since 1951. Recently, we chose to expand into
the classic car market and have constructed a beautiful building on
Transit Rd. in Lancaster - Depew. There you can leisurely view our
latest collection of classic vehicles year round in a comfortable
climate-controlled environment. Pontiac entered the intermediate
performance market officially in 1964 with the introduction of the
GTO. The designation GTO was taken from the Italian 250 Ferrari GTO
which stands for Gran Turismo Omologato, an Italian grand touring
designation. From 1964 through 1966 the GTO had a 389 cubic inch
displacement with single or multiple carburetion options. This 1966
GTO is among the finest examples we have seen in recent years. It
is powered by a 335hp 389ci V8 engine which is backed by a four
speed standard transmission equipped with a Hurst shifter and a
positraction rear end. The engine compartment is clean and
encompasses the no power option, no nonsense high output engine.
Just a glance at the front of this car gives the immediate feel of
performance with the mesh grill backing the classic running lights
coupled just above with the tastefully crafted hood scoop. The
bright red paint is in excellent condition as are all the body
panels, showing factory correct original condition. All the chrome
and bright work on this Goat (American slang adopted to describe a
GTO) is also in great condition. The aftermarket chrome wheels and
white letter tires are impressive additions but for the purest, the
standard factory mag wheels and red wall tires are also included
with this sale. A spare tire is also included in the trunk as is
the factory jack and correct trunk floor mat. The simple yet
attractive black vinyl interior includes inviting bucket seats, GTO
markings on the door panels and dash as well as a tasteful
woodgrain gauge, radio and control surround. Just ahead of the
Hurst shifter, you find an aftermarket addition of temperature and
oil pressure gauges, along with a well positioned tachometer. Once
seated behind the wheel, the unmistakable feeling of muscle car
power is undeniable. The 1966 model year is one of the most
elegantly designed GTOs, and this particular one is no exception.
Come in and have a look at this and other stunning classics in our
