Vehicle Description
Cruisin Classics is very excited to present to you today this
stunning 1964 Ford Galaxie 500. This 2-door fastback comes to us
today dressed in a high-quality respray of its original color -
Maroon Metallic - and it looks fabulous! The paint looks deep and
glossy on the long, straight body with lots of brightwork accents
to keep things exciting. Up front are thin chrome fins atop the
fenders and a horizontal linear grille with quad headlights set in
bright surrounds. The front bumper looks bright and reflective.
Running down the side of the car is a chrome molding strip that
begins at the front with a silver center and "Galaxie 500" script
and tapers down to a thin chrome line as it passes the door and
heads for the rear. The quality brightwork continues with window
trim, drip rails, door handles, rear surround, and rocker molding.
Front fenders bear a bright 390 cross-flags badge behind the
wheels. The rear of the car features iconic large round "space-age"
tail lights as well as another gleaming bumper, bright trim pieces,
a Galaxie 500 badge, dual exhaust, and hidden gas fill. This whole
beautiful package rolls down the road on body-color steel wheels
with cool FORD logo hubcaps all wrapped in newer Toyo Extensa A/S
tires. Under the hood is a very clean, painted engine bay with a
390ci V-8 that is likely original to the car. The V-8 is topped
with light green "Thunderbird" logo valve covers,a matching green
Ford air cleaner, and a Ford 4-barrel carburetor (rebuilt in 2023).
This engine is mated to a Borg-Warner T-10 manual transmission that
was rebuilt earlier in 2023. A look around the engine compartment
reveals a newer radiator, a single reservoir for the manual drum
brakes, manual steering, and newer belts, hoses, and wires. The
item that really caught my attention was the working and 134A
updated Ford A/C compressor! Inside this Galaxie is an
exceptionally nice black interior, just as it was originally
delivered. The door panels are in good condition and feature a
crank for the vent windows, but they do show a little age on the
silver accent strip. When the door is opened the courtesy lights
under the dash and on the C-pillars come on to illuminate the
luxurious interior. The front bench seat is a blend of chain-weave
fabric and crushed vinyl with silver piping as separation - a great
look. The two items that really stand out immediately are front and
center - the dog-leg shifter for the smooth-shifting 4-speed
transmission and the dealer-installed Ford A/C unit (under-dash)
that blows ice-cold air! The shifter features a black shift ball
with finger lifts and a black boot. Ahead of the driver is a black
3-spoke OEM steering wheel with working horn ring and a blue
Galaxie 500 center-cap. The dash sports a nice coat of black paint
that contrasts the many silver and chrome accents. The speedometer
is flanked by circular, working fuel and temp gauges with simple
lights providing warning for oil and gen. The climate controls on
the dash work just as they should to provide heat with a strong
fan. Next to those controls is an AM/FM push-button
Retro-sound-style radio that plays through a new dash speaker. The
clock in the dash was repaired in 2023 and keeps time perfectly.
Ahead of the passenger, in the glovebox, you'll find a vial of
touch-up paint and an original owners manual. Overhead is a tight
white vinyl headliner and underfoot is black hook loop carpet. Back
in the trunk is a vinyl mat, a bias-ply spare with factory-style
jack, a car cover with bag, and receipts for work performed in 2023
(dash speaker, transmission rebuild, carb rebuild, clock repair,
radio conversion, and A/C service). Now, here is the cherry on top
- we have a signed and framed letter from the original owner of
this Galaxie stating that he purchased the car new in 1964, drove
it until 1979, then stored it until 2018 when he sold it to a
gentleman from Georgia! If you're in the market for a cool Ford
classic then you're going to want to spend some time considering
this Galaxie - slick paint, 390 V-8 with 4-barrel, 4-speed manual
transmission, cold dealer-installed A/C (now 134A!), and a single
owner for 54 years! Give us a call today before someone else
snatches up this awesome ride!
