This 1963 Jaguar MK X is said to have been ordered new from Hornburg Jaguar of Santa Monica, California, with European delivery and was acquired by the seller on BaT in July 2021. Finished in metallic blue over tan vinyl upholstery, the car is powered by a 3.8-liter inline-six paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a front badge bar, chrome bumpers, 14″ steel wheels, Coker whitewall tires, triple SU carburetors, rear picnic tables, and power-assisted steering and four-wheel disc brakes. Work in preparation for sale is said to have included replacing the ignition and suspension components. This MK X is now offered with service records and a clean South Carolina title in the seller’s name.
The car was repainted in metallic blue in 1995 and features a front badge bar, a Leaper hood ornament, driving lights, fender-mounted mirrors, twin exhaust outlets, and chrome bumpers and trim. Cracked paint on the hood and touch-up paint discoloration on the trunk are viewable in the walk-around video.
Silver-painted 14″ steel wheels with chrome trim rings and Jaguar-logo hubcaps wear Coker Classic whitewall tires that are said to have been replaced during current ownership. The car is equipped with independent rear suspension and power steering. Braking is provided by power-assisted discs at each corner. Work in August 2022 is said to have included replacing the sway bar bushings and front shocks along with flushing and bleeding the brake system.
The cabin was re-trimmed in tan vinyl under previous ownership and features brown carpets and burl wood trim on the dashboard and doors. Appointments include power windows, lap belts, and burl wood picnic tables for the rear occupants. Noted imperfections include a tear in the driver’s seat upholstery, separating door panel trim, an inoperative right rear door handle and window, torn C-pillar trim, and a nonfunctional radio.
The two-spoke steering wheel frames a 140-mph speedometer and a tachometer, while auxiliary gauges are mounted in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 1k miles, approximately 100 of which were added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 3.8-liter inline-six features triple SU carburetors. The seller states that the power steering pump leaks, and work in August 2022 is said to have included:
The engine stamp ZA9269-9 is shown above and matches the engine number on the chassis tag shown in the gallery.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through an automatic three-speed Borg Warner transmission. The secondary fuel tank has been removed, and corrosion is visible on underside components. Work in August 2022 is said to have included performing a fluid service on the differential and replacing the subframe mounts and driveshaft center support.
Service records, a seal kit, and badges are included in the sale and pictured in the gallery below.
