Basil Classic Cars site. Joe Basil and the Basil family have been
tirelessly striving to bring you excellence in automotive sales and
service since 1971. Our efforts to do so have recently expanded
into the classic car market and we now have an extensive inventory
of classic and antique cars available for you to consider. We have
constructed a new building on Transit Rd. In the Lancaster - Depew
area which has a massive indoor climate-controlled showroom. Much
of our inventory of cars from the past is currently on display in
our new building dedicated exclusively to classic and antique cars.
When introduced in 1970, the Chevrolet Monte Carlo was marketed as
a stand alone luxury vehicle that anyone could afford. The Monte
Carlo was available with a wide array of luxury options and
introduced only as a two door coupe model, making it a successful
assembly of visual elegance to be sure. Its expansive hood and
front end design produced an unmistakable elegance which placed it
in a class of its own. Proof of demand for such a vehicle was
quickly provided with nearly 146,000 units being sold in the first
year of production. Size and engine displacements were altered over
the years due to restrictive government imposed regulations.
However, the Monte Carlos appeal to the buying public continued to
escalate production sales well into the six digit range for many
years. The 1985 Monte Carlo was no exception, 119,057 models were
produced for that year. The Monte Carlo we have here however is one
of only 35,484 SS versions to roll off the line in 1985 and its
condition is exceptional. The burgundy metallic paint complimented
by the SS badging and horizontal sport striping hold your attention
immediately. Further review discloses the color-coded front and
rear bumper covers, trunk mounted spoiler and sport mirrors which
help to neatly complete the design appeal. The smoked glass T-tops
and five spoke factory mags wrapped in black radial tires also help
the overall appearance of this classic. The high output 305 cubic
inch engine fitted with dual exhaust sends power through a four
speed automatic transmission. The Monte Carlo also has a full coil
spring suspension allowing it to provide both smooth performance
and riding comfort to its passengers. The engine compartment is
remarkably clean as is the trunk area which has factory matting and
an original space saver tire in place. Sliding into the driver's
seat, you observe the nearly new condition of the matching cloth
and vinyl upholstery. The smartly designed bucket seats are
separated by a center console which houses the floor mounted
automatic shift and a second compartment beneath the padded arm
rest. Equipment includes power steering, power disc brakes, power
windows and locks, climate control air conditioning and an AM/FM in
dash cassette stereo system. This SS model treats the operator to
full gauge instrumentation which places the speedometer, the
tachometer, temperature gauge, oil and amperage gauge directly in
the driver's line of sight. Showing just under 29,000 miles, this
gorgeous SS will be a pleasure to own and drive. Many complements
