For Sale: 1940 Ford Custom in Volo, Illinois

Vehicle Description

Gorgeous! This is an all-steel truck with a high quality build. Custom chassis, gorgeous motor compartment, glove soft interior and all the features you want. It's at a fraction of what it would cost to build!

EXTERIOR: This a real 1940, it's all steel! The body is outstanding. Straight, no rust, damage, or issues. It fits really well. Custom fuel door and shaved handles. The doors open by a remote button. The paint is gorgeous, it looks like a piece of grape candy. It's polished smooth and glossy. It has a few scratches on the running boards. The glass was all replaced, v- butted windshield. Chrome bumpers and grill sparkle. Modern projector headlights and blue dot taillights. Highly polished 15 Torque Thrust wheels with BFG tires, fatter in back.

INTERIOR: The beige color is perfect against the purple. The metal trim is painted to match the upholstery. Custom molded door panels are wrapped in leather. The armrests have interior lights underneath them. The inside of the cab is completely upholstered. The seat is glove soft leather. Custom dash has classic gauges, wood trim and LED shift indicator. The light color carpet still looks new. It has an overhead console with lights and a stereo. A polished wood wheel is on a tilt column.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It's mechanical jewelry! Loaded with polished parts and it is detailed! The detailer did a great job, so good I tipped him $50. ZZ4 350 with aluminum heads and Street & Performance polished tune port injection on top. Coated headers and HEI ignition. It is making 400 hp and 450 lbs of torque! In front it has serpentine belt with polished pulleys, a/c compressor and alternator. The a/c and heater hoses are hard polished lines. Modern power steering with a remote reservoir. An aluminum radiator with an electric fan keeps it cool.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Under the locking fiberglass tonneau cover is a dry secure box. Inside is painted slick, refinished wood on the floor with polished stainless trim.

UNDERSIDE: Completely upgraded. It has a Heidts frame with independent front suspension. Polished stainless tubular control arms, coil over adjustable gas shocks, a chrome sway bar and rack & pinion steering. It has a lot of chrome in the front end. In back it's a chrome 4-link system with a panhard bar and coilover adjustable shocks. It has a custom polished fuel tank. All stainless steel exhaust is polished like chrome with glass pack style mufflers. It has power disc brakes at all four wheels, braided stainless hoses and polished calipers in front. Looking up at the motor it's clean. It has a 700R4 overdrive automatic trans, great for cruising. A custom drive shaft leads to a Ford 9 inch rear end with 3.73 and an aluminum center section. The frame is all smooth and painted gloss black. Underneath the truck still looks very clean.

SERVICE: We inspected the car and repaired the turn signals, recalibrated the speedometer, charged the a/c, reattached the mirror, replaced driver's power window motor and the passenger window module.

CONCLUSION: It's obviously a very high quality build. It's been done for over 10 years and it looks like it was just finished. I absolutely love the color combination. It's a comfortable, show quality truck that will get noticed. It would cost $150,000 to build today!

I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are displayed in a museum.
