Vehicle Description
Here is a really stunning looking Bentley Turbo R finished in the
factory brochure combination of Tudor red with Magnolia Connolly
hides with deep red accents to include piping, top-roll and floor
rugs. The twin fine lines to the waist-rails are hand-painted in
interior matching beige/tan. The car has the unusual fitment of
green badging from the factory. This Bentley is well known to us
having been previously owned by one of our clients who regularly
maintained the car. The car has travelled only 54,000 miles. The
Bentley Turbo R is powered by a 6.75 litre Rolls-Royce designed V8
engine with the Bosch fuel injecton system and Garret
Turbo-charger. Exuding in excess of 300 horsepower it pumped out
over 500 foot pounds of torque. So she is quite spritely indeed
and, quoting Modern Car's review upon its release; "such is the
power of this 2.5 ton behemoth, when you power down streets in
Sussex, she blows leaves off trees in Kent!". It has the look and a
true behemoth it is! With the striking Tudor red and black exterior
accents, this is indeed a handsome beast. Mechanically the car is
very strong. Although still subject to Park-Ward's "Predelivery
Commissioning" program whereby all major and minor services are
brought up to date and any maintenance items attended to, the car
drives and perfoms very well. She is smooth and tight and stops
surely. We did fit a brand new set of Avon Turbospeed Cr27s to her.
For those who do not know, these tyres were specially developed by
Avon for the Turbo R so they offer the best combination of smooth
ride with handling performance. Not many replace fit them because a
set of 4 is some $2,500. The new owner will not have to worry about
that for a long time and yet enjoy the benefit these great tyres
offer (we fitted these a week before the photos were taken). The
body of the car is straight and the paint consistent. With
exception of the boot lid, which was repainted at some point in its
life, the car has never been repainted and sports its factory
finish. When we received the car, she was rather faded looking with
a white chalky glaze all over. We buffed, polished and waxed the
car and she now presents very well. That said, solid reds are
renown for breaking down faster than other colours so we feel the
paint will eventually go chalky again. Whether this happens in 6
months or a few years will have to be seen. It also has a few minor
little chips and marks here and there to include some oxidation
under the paint on the top of the two rear doors. Because of her
90% original paint finish, we elected to not repaint anything. This
is the very reason (and only reason) why the car has been
underpriced as it has. Expect to pay at least $10,000 more for a
car with perfect paint. *(Should you wish to have some of these
paint areas attended to, please do let us know. Park-Ward has its
own in-house paint-shop and team and we can attend to them.
Personally, I would leave all as-is, preserving originality).
Rubbers, mouldings, badges and external fittings are all in
excellent condition. The interior of this car is stunning. The
Connolly leather shows nicely. The front seats were redyed by us
because they were showing some signs of ingrained staining but
certainly they were without tears or rips and so remain this way.
The back seats are original so you can see the car was well looked
after. Throughout, the leather maintains its soft and supple
characteristics. The wood throughout is very good and although not
perfect with some signs of hairline fractures in the clear, it is
quite acceptable and suitable as a high quality driver example.
Carpets, seats, dash, front top-roll, rear parcel shelf, headliner
and fixtures are truly excellent and I best encourage you to look
at all the photos to fully appreciate how nicely the interior
presents. The car also has had an up-market stereo system (not by
us) and delivers good quality sound. As part of Park-Ward's
