Vehicle Description
1994 Chevrolet Silverado Pickup
The origin of the word Silverado is confusing and varied with each
page you do research from. It has several meanings, however for
this description we will just say it is a truck made by Chevrolet
and is wildly popular.
For consignment, a 1994 version of the Silverado in 1500 trim with
a step side bed and classic Chevy truck good looks. Not only is
this truck capable of hauling loads, but it's also capable of
hauling ass with the newly found power of a Jegs 350ci V8 crate
engine with under 1,000 miles on it. In need of some TLC on the
exterior, and a few mechanical issues to be addressed, then you can
get your motor run-in, lookin' for adventure in whatever comes your
way...born to be wild!
Exterior
This full size model of 1994 is bathed in teal metallic, has the
factory galvanized steel panels, consistent gaps, but does present
with inconsistency to the coloring along with invasive rust on the
wheel arch of the driver's fender, both rocker panels and both cab
corners. Dents and dings abound throughout the body and some areas
of surface rust are showing on the leading edge of the hood. A
chrome surround with a black ribbed insert grille has quad halogen
headlights on its flanks, along with a shiny chrome bumper below
which is highlighted by a black trim strip and black plastic lower
air dam. Blacked out trim surrounds the windows and down low we
note silver paint covering the lowers for a little extra pizazz.
Bringing up the tail end we see a flareside bed with black rubber
step inserts to help you get up and over the bed sides. A CHEVROLET
badged tailgate rests between the cathedral style tail lights and
just below is a slightly tarnished and rusted chrome bumper and tow
hitch. Gazing into the bed reveals a used but not abused teal
painted bed with a rubber bed floor liner to help keep your cargo
put. Standard 15-inch Chevrolet aluminum wheels wrapped in
235/75R15 blackwall rubber adorn the 4 corners and add to the
muscle look of this truck.
Interior
A swing of the doors reveals an intricate use of dark and light
gray cloth and molded gray vinyl with some carpeted area on the
bottoms, and many differing panels to make up just the doors.
Inside is a gray broadcloth pattern 70/30 split bench seat
stretching from door to door and this tuck and roll insert and
smooth outer bolster covered seat is in excellent condition showing
little wear. In front is the original factory configured gray
molded vinyl dash with a charcoal instrument cluster using the
square and rectangle design of the mid 1980's. In the center of the
dash we see a Sony AM/FM/CD stereo. Slightly faded and stained gray
carpet is on the floors under the black rubber mast and above is a
teal steel roof, sans headliner.
Drivetrain
Under the hood in the unrestored engine bay we see a consignor
stated Jegs 350ci V8 crate engine capable of making 305hp, however
there is no documentation to support this claim. Our consignor
states that this mill has only logged a mere 1,000 miles since its
installation, but we do note some oil leaking from the valve
covers. EFI is in charge of air and fossil delivery and bolted to
the back is a 4L60E 4-speed automatic. This transmission sends
power rearward to a 10-bolt axle to put the power to the
pavement.
Undercarriage
Very clean and surface rust on some usual suspects, however very
structurally sound even with the heavily surface rusted inside of
the rear bumper. Power disc brakes up front, and power drums for
the rear and we note a stock replacement single exhaust system
handling the exhale. Providing the ride is an independent coil
spring front suspension and rear leaf springs. All buttoned up and
ready to haul.
Drive-Ability
She fired right up and was ready for a few ticks around the track
and she was proven to work well. More than adequate acceleration
and shifting, bias free panic stopping, and easy drive-ability. I
did notice the A/C did not blow cold, the passenger's power window
did not work and is in need of a new regulator, the windshield is
cracked, the engine has a slight hesitation that our consignor
states can be rectified with a 1996/97 Vortec fuel pump, and an
issue in the title steering column causes the tail/brake lights not
to illuminate.
Whether it be your main mode of transportation, or a second truck
to show and go with, you are sure to have years of reliable service
left in this truck once you perform a little TLC. Yes, it has some
rust, but has great muscle truck styling cues that certainly make
this a nice well thought out package. Go on, get to
hauling.....ass!
