Vehicle Description
1967 Chevrolet C10 Pickup
Although the C10 most commonly identifies as the half-ton,
short-bed pickup, it came in different styles. The C10 featured a
115-inch wheelbase for the pickup equipped with the 6.5-foot bed
and a 127-inch wheelbase for models with the 8-foot bed. Chevy sold
pickups as a chassis and cab that required buyers to custom-fit
their choice of beds. Other styles featured the Fleetside, or flat
panel cargo box, and the Stepside, which had the rear wheels
outside the bed and a step mounted between the cab and wheel wells.
C10 models also included a panel truck and the Suburban sport
utility vehicle.
Here at Classic Auto Mall on consignment, is this mildly modified
Chevrolet C10 pickup from 1967. This former Georgia truck has
endured its years with minimal rust and is a looker and a cooker
and thanks to a frame off restoration in the early 2000's it is
still showing better than new. Now with a reworked late model V8,
custom painted bulkhead in the bed, lots of mechanical repairs and
upgrades, and an interior update are just a few of the tasks
performed on this custom. Truly unique, truly cool, and quite the
runner, all buttoned up and ready for the big dance, and to put a
smile on a new owner's face.
Exterior
Starting up front we are met with the new for '67 rectangular C10
front end with outboard round headlights and split grille assembly
with integral parking lenses in the lower section and a shiny like
new bumper below. Yes, the body is all red, clean, and retains some
of the correct badging it was born with. Just a few inclusions and
touch ups for the straight steel panels are seen along with some
areas where the paint was applied too dry, but one must look hard
to find these faults. All good though with nice gaps, black
trimmings for surrounds around the lightly smoked windows and a
simple chrome mirror hanging from either door. The rear cargo area
is looking good with miles of red steel and a Wile E. Coyote and
Roadrunner desert motif painted on the bulkhead. The rear bumper,
much like the front, is shiny and like new, and the original tail
lights are flanking either side of the tailgate. Deep dish 6 lug
15-inch drilled aluminum wheels wrapped in 255/70R15 BF Goodrich
raised white letter radials from the 32nd week of 2022 that finish
out the package nicely.
Interior
Nice door panels in painted red metal with shiny chrome door
actuators and window cranks pave the way for your entry into the
cab. Within the panels are custom beige painted striping that
alternate with the red and really bring out the WOW factor for
these doors. Moving inside, you'll find the traditional long bench
seat replaced with khaki hobnail style cloth bucket seats with a
central armrest that can be folded up to make room for a 3rd. These
present in very nice shape with only normal age wear from careful
use. The original dash has been retained and displays with a duo of
round gauges and smaller round inserts with warning lights and the
signal indicator. A Grant GT steering wheel has been added atop the
adjustable column and we note an AM/FM/CD stereo in the center of
the dash along with the climate control slides and the tan padded
dash top adds some contrast to the interior upfront. New black
carpet floods the floors and the headliner is all metal and red,
and as we move to the back of the cab, a rounded tinted glass
window lets you see out back and check on the cargo out back.
Drivetrain
A non-original 350ci V8 is now installed and is fed by a new
4-barrel Edelbrock carburetor through an aluminum intake manifold.
This mill features gobs of chrome and polished aluminum down to the
March serpentine pulley system and Griffin aluminum radiator. A
TH350 3-speed automatic is in charge of sending power rearward to a
12-bolt rear axle setup. Looking good under this hood with our
consignor logging a mere 400 miles during his ownership tenure.
Undercarriage
From the engine we see headers feeding clean piping to glasspack
style exhausts and power drum brakes on all 4 corners with the
fronts being recently redone. Independent coil springs for front
and trailing arm with coil springs on the back with some slight
surface rust underneath on the untreated components. But well cared
for and structurally sound with a black frame and red flooring
thanks to the frame off restoration.
Drive-Ability
With a turn of the key and a slip of the shifter into D, this truck
took to the test track like a fish in water. Here it showed good
acceleration from the 350ci and 4-barrel, smooth braking, tight
handling, and even a smooth ride at a cruising speed. All fine for
the test drive with the only frown being the AC blowing warm.
Some snazzy and much welcomed modifications for this truck, the
chrome looks nice with the theme, and some black accenting does it
solid. The interior is good, late model seats, new weather
stripping, clear glass, and a reliable drivetrain, and we are ready
to go haul...some ass!
