Vehicle Description
Cruisin Classics is proud to present to you this 1969 Plymouth GTX!
This car is one of only 4,004 4-speed 440 4bbl GTX's made in 1969 -
making it a pretty rare find 54 years later. The paint is in good
driver quality and the hood features matte black stripes (on top of
the paint) that accentuate the functional Air Grabber hood (N96).
The Air Grabber hood was an option for the GTX and it consists of
two vents with red woven grates that feed directly into a large
orange air filter then the Edelbrock carburetor. This system is
controlled by an underdash knob that opens and closes the gates.
The sides of both hood vents wear "440" call-outs to let you know
what's hiding beneath. Both front fenders feature turn signal
indicators for the driver (another nice option). At the front,
you'll find side-by-side quad headlights flanking a black grill
with red striping and a bright GTX badge at the center. Under the
grill is a nicely chromed bumper. The sides of this GTX are long
and straight with good body gaps on the doors. Both sides are
dressed with tip to toe lower body side molding with black paint
beneath accented by a white pinstripe - creating a really sporty
look. There are many bright elements to break up all of the
turquoise - wheel lip molding, drip rail molding, window trim, door
handles, and GTX badges on the rear quarters all pop in the light.
The front windshield and side vent windows sport years of cool
stickers from the MOPAR Nationals. Around back you'll find the
distinctively curved rear window, another gleaming bumper, bright
tail light bezels, chrome exhaust tips, and GTX badging. Reverse
lights are integrated in the bumper and the gas fill is hidden
behind the license plate. This Plymouth sits atop Kelsey Hayes 14"
Road Wheels wrapped in white letter Challenger Regul Sport tires
for fantastic period look. Under the hood lies a 1971 440ci Super
Commando V-8 rated at 375 hp mated to a 1970 Chrysler New Process
4-speed manual transmission. Backing up this killer powertrain is a
1969 Dana 9 " rear end with 3:54 Sure-Grip gears to put the power
to the pavement. Other highlights in the clean and organized engine
bay include chrome valve covers, Chrysler electronic ignition,
orange-painted block, orange Air-Grabber air cleaner, an Edelbrock
750 4-barrel, original cast iron intake manifold, cast exhaust
manifolds, and a dual reservoir for the manual brakes. The brakes
are a front disc / rear drum combination and the steering is
manual. When you open the driver's door you're greeted by a very
nice black interior with woodgrain accents. The door panels are in
very good condition with a combination of vinyl and woodgrain. Up
front are OEM correct front vinyl bucket seats with a "buddy-seat"
in the center that doubles as an armrest. Both the front and rear
seats are in excellent condition and complete with seatbelts. The
black vinyl dashpad is free of cracks and the black and woodgrain
dash is in good condition. There are working gauges for alt., gas,
and temp as well as a speedometer and clock (inop.) ahead of the
driver. In the center of the dash is a working solid state factory
AM push-button radio and mounted beneath the dash is a very cool
(working) FM radio/8-track player. If you're short on 8-track tapes
there a couple of stacks of them in the glovebox ready to go! The
driver is treated to a 3-spoke woodgrain Sport steering wheel and a
Hurst Pistol-Grip shifter! These shifters didn't appear in GTXs
until 1970, but a previous owner decided it was something his 69
couldn't be without. Overhead you'll find a tight vinyl headliner
with working dome light and underfoot is nice black carpet. Back in
the trunk is a plaid vinyl mat, carpeted GTX logo floormats, and a
book with info about the car as well as a copy of the Broadcast
Sheet, receipts from some work done, and a Chrysler Registry letter
from Galen Govier. If you're a MOPAR fan (and even if you're not)
you're gonna want to take a moment to check out this awesome GTX!
From its awesome color combo to the 440 4-speed drivetrain, this
ride has a lot to offer any classic car enthusiast!
