Vehicle Description
Looking for a classic SUV none of your friends or neighbors will
have? Consider this 1990 Nissan Patrol, a model which was only
available in the United States between 1962 and 1969. This patrol
has undergone a recent restoration with over $10,900.00 spent at
Euro Prestige Imports, in Charlotte, NC on 5/22. All fluids were
flushed and replaced with new filters, new stainless steel exhaust
system, new window seats, new front and rear shocks, new paint and
decals, alternator rebuilt, lift kit and more.
This GR example was likely built in Barcelona, Spain and was
shipped to its original owner in Italy. This Patrol has been
completely restored - body, suspension and engine. It was imported
to the United States in 2018.
The truck's two-tone grey paint and trim are in overall excellent
condition. The bodywork is straight and solid, the engine bay is
very tidy, as is the rear cargo area. Gray matte bumpers fit
tightly to the body and are in good, original order. The rear side
sliding windows open for additional ventilation and there's a
pop-up sunroof.
This SUV rolls on BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A light truck tires,
size 31x10.50R15 at every corner. Each tire is mounted to a white
wagon wheel. It rides on a 94.5-inch wheelbase and a 4,300 GVWR. A
Bridgestone Desert Dueler spare tire rides with its own white wheel
on the larger of the two barn doors. This short wheelbase model has
a 94.5-inch wheelbase and a 4,300 GVWR. The front hubs lock
manually. The floor-mounted shift and two-speed transfer levers
complete the interior along with a Panasonic AM/FM stereo with CD
player.
Inside, there's a grey cloth-and-vinyl interior. The front buckets
and rear bench seats are in overall very good order. There's a
gray-black carpet and a gray headliner. A three-spoke factory
steering wheel faces the driver. The gray instrument panel has a
full array of gauges. Power antenna is inop. It and the inner door
panels look great. Auxiliary pitch, roll, and altitude gauges are
mounted to the ceiling.
The Y60 was radically different mechanically from its predecessors,
as it was the first Patrol with coil-spring suspension, increasing
comfort and improving rough-ground handling. All Y60 Patrols had a
three-link live axle suspension set-up at the front, with all
wagons (SWB, LWB, and SWB LW) adopting a five-link set-up at the
rear. The utility model was available with both a leaf-spring rear
axle, and from 1994 onwards, a choice of the same coil-spring rear
axle as the wagons. Sway bars were included on both front and rear
coil-spring live axles. Power steering was standard. Some wagon
models had front and rear disc brakes, while the utility retained
rear drum brakes. The introduction of a synchromesh on reverse gear
was another improvement.
The alternative model codes of GR and GQ were applied to left- and
right-hand drive models, respectively. Most models had a rear
limited-slip differential and some variants had a vacuum or
electric solenoid-operated manual rear differential lock. A rear
sway bar release mechanism appeared on some models. Some Y60s had a
power take-off-driven front-mounted winch, with an in-cab control
lever to the right of the gearstick. Trim levels in Europe varied
by country. These include designations such as SLX, LX, LW and many
others in France. Finnish Patrols came standard with two batteries.
The engine and chassis remained the same.
If you desire a classic SUV that you won't find a clone of at a car
show or a cruise night (the Nissan Hardbody pickup is not quite the
same), then you should really make the time to stop by MotoeXotica
Classic Cars to check out this Nissan Patrol before somebody else
takes it out on patrol and doesn't bring it back.
