Vehicle Description
This 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air has an old school, mild custom look
with fantastic tasteful options. When Chevrolet released its
passenger car line for 1955, complete with an entirely new design,
the GM marque kicked off a period now known as the Tri-Five era. At
the end of 1955 in November, the second generation, 1956 model
year, Tri-Five Chevys were introduced to its dealers. Both inside
and out, the new '56 Chevrolets has a brand new look. At the nose,
the 1956 Chevys featured a newly redesigned full-width chrome
grille that sat below a new-look hood that was flatter, longer, and
sported an accentuated "V" treatment, which would be carried
forward. The side profile of the 1956 Chevrolets also received a
facelift that included a new chrome side trim featuring a painted
insert and ran nearly the full length of the car at the beltline
and swept down at the rear. Perhaps the most famous exterior update
on the new 1956 Chevrolet was the placement of the hidden gas
filler cap which, in true 50s fashion, is tucked behind the
driver's side tail light. The Bel Air sat atop the Chevrolet
passenger car hierarchy, above the entry-level 150 and intermediate
210 models. Since the Bel Air was the most luxurious Chevrolet
someone could purchase in 1956 their interiors were the plushest,
most elevated and best-optioned across the GM marque's passenger
car line, and some would say were comparable to most luxury cars of
the day. The Bel Air also came equipped with fantastic options as
standard equipment including a clock and lockable gloveboxes, both
of which were considered big of luxuries back in 1956. Powering
this '56 Chevy is a 265 Cubic Inch V8 engine fed by a single 4
barrel carburetor. Backing the 265 V8 is an easy to drive,
powerglide automatic transmission that just about anybody can
enjoy. When running, this 1956 Bel air produces a fantastic throaty
sound out of the rear thanks to its stainless steel dual exhaust
setup. This '56 Chevrolet is loaded with desirable options and
tasteful upgrades. Power steering makes driving this Tri-Five is a
joy since turning into a tight space at the local drive-in or car
show is so easy. Further adding to this ease are the dual chrome
outside mirrors that a welcome addition to any classic car. With
power front disc brakes, bringing this gorgeous hot rod to a
complete stop is a total breeze especially with all that V8 power
under the hood. The original master cylinder and brake booster were
also replace with a more modern booster and dual master cylinder
setup which makes for a more reliable braking system. Riding on a
set of Keystone Klassic wheels and raised letter radial tires, this
1956 Chevy has an old school look and a great ride cruising down
the road. Further adding to the old school hot rod look is the
lowered suspension like many hot rods of the day. The exterior on
this 1956 Chevrolet 2 door hardtop has been correctly refinished in
a beautiful two-tone paint scheme consisting of Crocus Yellow and
Onyx Black, completing the exterior appearance of the car. The
interior of this 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air is absolutely stunning! The
front and rear bench seats have been correctly reupholstered in
Yellow vinyl with Charcoal patterned cloth inserts, with silver
accents. The yellow and black upholstered door panels, black
carpeting, black painted dash, and steering wheel all appear to be
in wonderful condition and all appear to remain in their stock
configuration. The instrument cluster is equipped with a 110 MPH
speedometer, temperature gauge, and fuel gauge. The dash is
finished with a push-button AM radio, clock, integrated speaker
with an anodized Bel Air script emblem, and locking glovebox.
