For Sale: 1976 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray in New Haven, Connecticut

Vehicle Description

1976 Chevy Corvette

This car was built in St. Louis, MO and eventually migrated to CT where it has spent at least the last 10 years.

The current owner saw it when her employer brought it into work one day. She fell in love with the car and asked him if when he was ready to sell, that she be able to make first offer on it. He said, why not buy her now? So she did. That was late 2015. He mentioned that there were a few things he'd take care of before selling it to her but that turned into a full body off restoration, that she gladly paid for, with the work being done by friends of her employer. The car was finished in late 2016 and by 17 she was taking her to local car shows. The car has taken 1st place in class at the Moroso Corvette Only Show more than once.

The VIN decodes as a base L48 Corvette, with classic white paint and leather interior.

In essence, everything was touched and either restored or installed new. The car was painted in Lexus Pearl White, the frame was powder coated, rack and pinion steering was installed, the AC was updated to R134a, the 4 wheel, power disc brakes were kept but renewed, new 2.5" exhaust was set up from front to rear with no emissions equipment and Flowmaster mufflers out back. The slotted mags were on the car as were the Stinger Radial GTS tires in staggered sizes (265-50-15 in front and 295-50-15 in back) she liked the look so they stayed.

The engine was completely rebuilt and she told them she wanted to beat her husband's 68 Camaro, so they decked the block, installed new pistons and rods, bored it 30 over, installed an Edelbrock 4 bbl aluminum manifold and Holley carb and dynoed it at over 300 HP. The engine has casting number 397-0010 which denotes the 210 HP 350, so we're presuming this is not the original engine. An aluminum radiator handles the cooling and a rebuilt TH350 handles the shifting. Based on the chirping rear tires, this is also equipped with a limited slip rear diff.

On the inside, the leather seats are the only thing untouched during the restoration. The AC blows cold, the power R&P steering is quick and light, all the electronic items work as they should except the horn, which buzzes a little when hooked up (the wire is currently disconnected, when connected, if you hit the horn button it sort of buzzes, tries to honk), the tilt wheel works and the leak prone T-Tops were replaced with the one piece smoked Lexan kit. The white gauge faces contrast nicely with the black interior and match the white exterior and they all work. The odometer reads 48,000 miles but the owners figure there is less than 1000 miles on her since the resto.

This Vette is totally devoid of rust as she is pretty much a brand new car, and has not been driven in the rain since 2015, there are no visible cracks in any of the fiberglass and there are only three minor paint issues I was able to find - a small scratch on the hood, one on the driver rear wheel well and a couple of chips on the "targa" section of the roof.

My opinion is that the Stingray is the epitome of the Corvette look and this one, with the large, wheel well filling tires is how they are meant to look.

Two pumps of the gas pedal and she starts right up and idles smoothly around 900 rpm and at 40 PSI oil pressure.

Tap the gas and the the dual exhaust rumbles and burbles like a muscle car, toss her through corners and she handles like an American sports car.

This is practically a new car, runs and drives awesome, looks great and can still win shows.

The owner unfortunately has had some back issues and driving her and getting out simply causes too much pain so it's time for her to move on to a new home.

The asking price on her is a very market correct $24,800 for a solid #2 car.

Any questions, for many more photos and video, to schedule a time to see her in person, or to make an offer, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thanks for the interest!
