Vehicle Description
1993 Ford Mustang LX Hatchback
From its inception in 1964 until 1993, the Ford Mustang was offered
continuously in two roof styles: formal coupe and fastback. While
the fastback designation changed to hatchback with the second
generation in 1974, the overall shape of the tumblehome was
preserved in silhouette, freezing the iconic Mustang fastback shape
as the definitive version. The Mustang was a chiseled wedge in
reverse that looked as if it could leave the air undisturbed after
making its splashy entrance. We're talking decades before the
notchback Mustang, but hear us out. When the third-generation
Mustang debuted in 1979, there would be two versions as well: a
two-door sedan, (the windows were now framed), and hatchback. Ford
didn't want to change the formula that had made the Mustang so
successful, and that meant there should be a Mustang for every
person and every purpose. The job fell to Ford VP of design Jack
Telnack, who had three teams working on parallel designs, two in
Detroit and one in Italy. Thx To Motortrend.com
For consignment, a car that is just as capable on the street as it
is on the track. With a built up factory engine with speed and
power upgrades a plenty, this car is now a pocket rocket Foxbody
Stang, with a sting right out of 1993. A 325hp 302ci EFI fed engine
graces the bay where the original 225hp 5.0 liter V8 used to sit,
along with a 5-speed transmission, racy interior, new paint, and
updated suspension. Street lethal if you will.

the manufacturer, please check your local, state, and federal laws

Exterior
This dual purpose hatchback is painted in a fresh application of
crisp white paint and has straight steel panels which mind their
gaps nicely. A few chip off are noted around the mid bodyline
molding as well as a few scuffs on the bottom of the front fascia.
A body matching integrated front bumper, dark tinted windows with
black surrounds, and some rectangular headlights are framed by a
fairly bold and muscular Cobra-R cowl induction style leading back
to the rearward raked windshield. Slightly tinted factory
wraparound tail lights are just below the rear trunk deck and above
another body matching rear bumper. All of this resides in the shade
of the factory rear spoiler. 17-inch SVT Cobra wheels are on all 4
corners, and up front wrapped by 245/45ZR17 tires, and on the rear,
275/40R17 rubber from 2022 and 2020 respectively. Save for the
hood, this is a naturally occurring unassuming Fox Bodied Mustang
LX. BUT!
Interior
A swing of the doors allows us to shake hands with a full on
charcoal, gray, and black interior provided for your straight line
enjoyment. Deeply bolstered articulated bucket seats grab you and
hold you with a firm snuggle and both show with light outer upper
bolster wear. These bolsters are smooth and have snappy red
stitching and for the inserts we see some charcoal suede inserts
for a little extra pizazz. The rear seat has been removed in the
name of weight savings and gives us a view of the fully carpeted
cargo area. Lightly soiled black carpet covers the flooring up
front and floats not only the seats but the black plastic console
with cupholders, a small storage tray and the leather wrapped
shifter with its black and gray knob. The factory installed black
airbag steering wheel sits atop the factory column and a factory
instrument cluster floats just ahead. Dash central holds some
heater vents, the heater and AC controls and just below is an
opening where a radio once was. Hovering just above is a black
felted headliner, tight and alright perfectly framing the pop up
tinted sunroof.
Drivetrain
The 302ci V8, 5.0 liter V8 for those of you using the metric
system, engine has all the fixings and is adorned with worked over
ported Trick Flow aluminum cylinder heads, a fairly radical Trick
Flow Stage 2 camshaft, and a Trick Flow intake manifold. Our
consignor states that this combination makes a tire shredding
325hp, but no documentation has been provided to back up this
claim. Feeding the proper and copious amount of air and fuel are
light blue topped, (24lb/hr), fuel injectors and work with a cold
air intake and a BBK mass air meter. On the back is a world class
Tremec T5 5-speed manual transmission fitted with a Ram clutch. In
charge of turning the rear tires is a 31 spline axle equipped Ford
8.8" with 3.55 gearing and TracLoc. Sheesh! I'm sweating with
anticipation on the test track, which will be a straight-line
version today! Buckle up!
Undercarriage
A 4 link and coil spring rear suspension with UPR chromoly tubular
arms, KYB shocks and Eibach springs helps plant the ponies and
subframe connectors are seen tying the unibody together and giving
the chassis some extra stiffening. Up front is a UPR tubular
K-member, and an independent front suspension with more chromoly
UPR tubular arms and Eibach coil springs and KYB struts. All solid
and rust free, nicely put together, and topped off with BBK equal
length headers, a BBX off-road X pipe, (no catalytic converters),
and Flowmaster mufflers with polished tips ending under the rear
bumper. The whoah factor is provided by 5 lug 1998 cobra power disc
brakes up front and 5 lug power drums in the rear.
Drive-Ability
It fired up with a thunderous roar, and our test driver, who
doubles as my sidekick decoder, took her for a spin, and spin it
did, especially for the rear tires. He said launching was awesome,
and of course did not get close to any top speed, but it is
reported it goes like hell. Racing aspect aside, this skate can
still be driven as a hopped up street car with nearly all functions
operational save power mirrors not moving, the passenger's power
window notfunctioning, the driver's power lock not actuating, (it
does lock manually), and the reverse lights not lighting up. We
also noted that the heater core has been bypassed and the AC lines
have been removed.
Take a Fox body and spend some cash on it to make it go straight,
and you now have a super 'Stang, a Muscle Mustang, and a powerful
pony. A few faults and flaws on the functionality, but overall an
excellent build with quality parts, and capable of being a
multi-purpose tool. Smoke the competition on the straight line and
look good at the local shows.
