Details
This 1967 Mercedes-Benz 230SL is powered by a 2.3L inline six-cylinder engine and backed by a five-speed manual transmission that delivers power to the rear wheels. Often referred to as the “Pagoda” because of its removable hard top, this 230SL has been restored in a dark green color with a soft black retractable top and beige leather interior to its original condition by a previous owner and features an axle ratio of 1:4.08, along with amenities such as adjustable reclining seats, a padded dash, and a map light. The car has a replacement speedometer, and the current odometer reads 32,399 miles, but the total mileage on the vehicle is unknown. The owner has extensive service records, documentation of the restoration as well as a certificate from Mercedes-Benz. It is located in Florida.
This Mercedes, in addition to being well documented, has been photographed by a third party and inspected. The car is in good condition and shows only minor chips in the paint located on the passenger’s door and trunk. The restored leather seats show only minor wear, and the carpets remain in good condition. The removable hard top does have a minor dent on the top. The car is said to run and drive as designed by the factory. A video of the car running is available. Provided with the sale of the car is a certificate from Mercedes certifying the options the car was initially built with; the certificate can be viewed in the photos. Also included are the tool kit, owner’s manual, and extensive service records.
This Mercedes is being sold through a CLASSIC.COM Pro and is located in Doral, Florida.
About the model
The Mercedes-Benz 230SL was the first variant of the W113 SL-Class to be introduced. Debuting in 1963, the 230 SL featured a 2.3L inline-six engine that produced 148hp, which it sent to the rear wheels via manual and automatic transmission options. These cars received the "pagoda" nickname due to their unique detachable hardtop. This name carried on to its successors, the 250SL and 280SL. Production of the 230SL lasted until 1967, with an estimated 19,831 examples built.
