Vehicle Description
Cruisin Classics is excited to present to you today this rather
rare 1983 Buick Riviera T-Type! Most folks remember the Grand
Nationals and Regal T-Types of the 1980's, but few recall that this
turbo-treatment was available on the Riviera as well. This car is
one of only 1,331 T-Type Rivieras sold in 1983 and it comes to us
today with only 62,259 actual miles! This Riviera looks spectacular
in it's original color of Blue (code 27) and it's obvious from
first look that it has been a garage-kept car its whole life. The
paint is in high driver-level condition, but the hood and
windshield valence appear to be an ever-so-slightly different shade
than the rest of the car. Up front are side-by-side quad headlights
set in bright bezels flanking a vertical chrome grill with "Riviera
Turbocharged" badge. Above, on the hood, is a vertical "R" hood
ornament - for a classy look. The front chrome bumper gleams in the
light and features a black rubber edge guard and bumperettes in
front. Around the side you'll find gold pinstriping running down
the upper body to accent the body lines and well as a chrome and
blue body side molding running from wheel to wheel. Brilliant
brightwork is everywhere with a full-length chrome rocker cover,
wheel lip molding, door handles, window trim, door edge molding,
and vinyl top surround. Both fenders wear "Riviera Turbocharged"
badges and both sides sport body-color side mirrors. If all this
chrome doesn't catch the eye, the incredibly realistic faux
convertible top certainly will. The top is a light blue vinyl in
fantastic condition and it looks so real you'll find yourself
checking it twice - it even has simulated "bows" for visual effect.
Around back you'll find a flat back window with rear defrost, gold
pinstripes across the lip of the trunk lid, large rectangular tail
lights with "R" logos in the centers, a "Riviera T-Type" badge, and
another beautiful bumper. This whole package sits atop factory
styled aluminum wheels with "R" centercaps wrapped in Custom 428
A/S Tires. Under the hood lies a 3.8 liter V-6 with a turbocharger
mated to a 4-speed overdrive transmission. The engine bay is tidy
and completely stock with a logo sticker still on the turbo intake.
Other highlights under the hood include chrome valve covers, power
steering, power brakes (4-wheel discs), and A/C. A "T-Type" badge
atop the radiator cover serves as a reminder that this isn't your
usual Riviera. Open the drivers' door to find a beautifully
preserved plush blue and woodgrain interior illuminated by working
courtesy lights. The long door panels are composed of vinyl,
carpet, fabric, woodgrain, and bright trim and in excellent shape.
The doors are home to controls for power windows, locks, and
mirrors as well as drivers' power seat controls. The doors also
feature pull handles, courtesy lights, and speakers. The front
bucket seats are covered in soft blue fabric, they have chrome and
woodgrain trim on the side, and they show no signs of wear. Between
the seats is a fold-down armrest and a storage compartment just
ahead of it. The floors are covered in a thick, quality blue carpet
kept clean by a double-wide carpeted floormat in the front and
individual mats in the rear. The rear bench seat has a fold down
center armrest, wood side-panels with speakers, ashtrays, and side
pull-handles for getting in and out more easily. The dashpad is
crack-free and it sits atop a wide, flat dash covered in woodgrain
finish. Ahead of the driver is a speedometer and gas gauge - the
other systems have warning lights instead of gauges. In the dash is
a factory Delco AM/FM/Cassette stereo for your cruisin music. The
climate controls work just as they should and they pump out hot
heat and cold A/C on demand. The glovebox has a courtesy light,
trunk popper, and an original owners manual. At the center of the
dash is another "Turbocharged" badge. The driver is treated to a
leather-wrapped 3-spoke steering wheel with "R" emblem on the horn
button. The tilt column also is also home to a shifter for the
overdrive transmission, cruise control, and controls for the
intermittent wipers. Back in the carpeted trunk is a small spare
with a cover on it. Back in the 80's this car was marketed as "the
gentleman's sports car" because of it's combination of luxury
elements with the speed of a turbocharged engine. These same
characteristics still make this car as appealing today as it was
back then. This classic cruiser checks all the boxes - clean
CarFax, beautiful paint and exterior, powerful engine, overdrive
transmission, cold A/C, and a luxurious interior paired with power
amenities. This Riviera is sure to be a hit at any car show and it
turns heads with its' timeless good looks wherever you go in
it!
