For Sale: 1931 Ford Model A in Volo, Illinois

Vehicle Description

Old school hot rod! It's a real 31 Ford steel body done with the nostalgia of a hot rod built in the 50s. Very well-built car, looks and performs great. It's exciting!

EXTERIOR: It's a real steel body Model A. It has been shaved and chopped 4 inches. A metal pleated roof was installed in place of the vinyl insert. The door handles and gas cap were removed and filled. The trunk has rounded corners. Excellent body work, it's straight with no damage or rust. Show quality matador red paint and pinstripes by Monkey Boy. The doors open by a remote knob. Teardrop taillights have LED bulbs and bluedots. Rare vintage Las Vegas car club emblem on the trunk. It has smoked glass. I love the tire/wheel combo. Red steel rims with Ford center caps and radial white wall tires, much fatter in back!

INTERIOR: I'm 6 ft and fit comfortably in this car. It has a pleated bench seat, custom upholstered door panels and a cloth headliner. The custom metal dash is painted and pinstriped. It has a full set of matched gauges. Other features include racing style seatbelts, a B&M ratchet shifter and a polished wood wheel. There is an overhead stereo system.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It's a 350 with four bolt mains, it's been blueprinted and dyno tuned. It has a Clay Smith solid cam, Mallory ignition and aluminum side shot headers. On top is a set of Edelbrock dual quads, aluminum intake, high rise aluminum air cleaner with ram air and flipper door. Fully decorated with chrome and polished parts. Finned aluminum valve covers and breathers. A big radiator, chrome water pump and polished overflow bottle keep it running cool.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Power trunk release is inside the car. It's fully carpeted including under the lid. The battery and fuel filler are relocated inside the trunk.

UNDERSIDE: In front it has a 4 inch drop axle, shocks and a transverse spring. It has a boxed frame. In back is a four link suspension with coil over shocks and panhard bar. It has drum brakes at each wheel. Bottom of the motor has a finned oil pan and oil filter, starter looks fresh. It has a 700R4 overdrive with a B&M shifter, transmission cooler and a finned oil pan. The driveshaft is a hardened steel and has a safety loop. Heavy duty Ford 9 inch rear.

SERVICE: We inspected the car and replaced the fuel pump, the accelerator pumps on each carb, set the choke and adjusted the timing.

This is a very well built hot rod and I do mean it's hot rod in every sense of the words. It has the looks, a healthy sound and way more horsepower than needed in this striped down lightweight car!

I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car, make an appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car, your admission will be refunded, and you will be given a 1 year membership.
