Mechanical
Ours is powered by a 2.5-liter six-cylinder engine that makes 185
horsepower while meeting low emission vehicle (LEV) standards. This
little puppy zooms and is a lot of fun to drive. The automatic
transmission shifts smoothly with no lunging or lurching and she is
mechanically sound.
The 2.5i gets four-wheel disc brakes, a limited-slip differential,
performance tires, a five-speed Steptronic automatic, capable of
being manually shifted, and standard Dynamic Stability Control,
which senses when the car is veering from its intended path and
selectively modulates engine torque and the antilock brakes to
bring the car under control.
Our engine compartment looks as original with the classy looking
black engine cover scripted with BMW and polished fins, power
steering and brakes, and air conditioning.
Interior
The interior has tan leather bucket seats, tan dash with all
factory gauges, tan door panels, center console with woodgrain,
stereo radio system, and clock, floor shifter with a wood trimmed
shifter handle, black factory BMW steering wheel, power locks and
windows, twin black roll bars, and tan carpeting.
The interior matches the top and compliments the exterior nicely.
All in all, the interior is very comfortable and looks great.
Exterior
The Z3 Roadsters features green exterior paint with great styling
cues like the L-shaped taillights with clear turn signal lenses,
fully lined tops, and sculpted rear flanks.
It has a white pinstripe down the flanks just above the side grills
and BMW logo and has an integral swoopy rear flair on the trunk lid
as it rides on factory silver alloy wheels and black sidewall
tires.
Conclusion
This 2001 BMW Z3 Convertible we have here at Skyway Classics has a
great color combo of green with tan top and interior, has superb
power and steering, with excellent brakes.
Any Z3 is fun to drive and own and this one is a great car that
drives well, looks sleek, and functions well.
