With performance factory race cars becoming extremely popular in
recent years it is no surprise for Dodge to enter their hat into
the ring. The Challenger already existed in the Hellcat variety but
it would ultimately be the Demon to cement their position as king
of the road. Of the pony cars the Camaro and Mustangs had
impressive offerings but the 840hp Demon left even it's Hellcat
counterpart in the dust. So how did they pull this off? Well this
unique factory racer came with the now infamous $1 Demon Crate
package. This crate comes complete with an engine controller to
unlock its full potential as well as items to reduce weight and a
set of 4.5 inch front racing wheels. This combination with higher
octane fuel pushes the Demon from its standard 808 hp 6.2 L
Supercharged Hemi to 840hp and boasts a track time of a 9.65 second
quarter mile at 140mph. That's some pretty serious power! The
amount of tech it takes to pull this off is nothing to scoff at and
Dodge has without a doubt perfected it in the Demon. Some of this
includes adjustable dampers to help transfer the weight during
takeoffs, the 8 speed automatic with transbrake to launch the car
forward and a larger induction air box with the air grabber hood,
driver side air catcher headlamp and air inlet by the wheel liner.
This drag racing monster is without a doubt something special and
with only 3,000 produced is certainly a collector car in its own
right. In fact, the car has broke numerous records by being the 1st
ever front wheel lift in a production car as certified by Guinness
and was the world's fastest quarter mile production car as
certified by the NHRA.
The exterior of the car takes the retro styled Challenger lines and
takes it to the next level. This one was ordered in White Knuckle
paint with a wide Black full body center stripe, Black spoilers, a
Black taillight panel, and lower body accents. The car wears its
SRT badging and the custom Demon exclusive emblems as well. The SRT
5 spoke Black wheels look great and peaking through them are the
large Brembo disc brakes.
Taking a seat behind the wheel is like syncing into a rocket ship
wear you are faced with multiple digital displays and every
performance control at your finger tips. Whether you are popping on
the stereo, turning on the luxury seat cooling or activating your
line lock it is all accomplished with the push of the button. To
think about how far performance has come is really astounding.
Their aren't many cars out there that can out perform others on the
track and deliver nice cool air conditioning on your way home.
There are many competitions nowadays where cars are put to test
driving from strip to strip across multiple states for runs but
also needing to make the long cruise to get there. This is the
perfect car for that scenario.
It of course comes with its Demon crate, all factory paperwork and
a clear title. If you have never had the opportunity to take a ride
in one than it is an experience that is tough to describe. You feel
complete control as it throws you back in the seat and literally
takes off.
