Vehicle Description
Increased displacement played a major role in GM's 1970
intermediates after corporate brass lifted the 400-cubic-inch
limit, allowing its various divisions to let loose a herd of
big-inch beasts with unprecedented horsepower and torque ratings
approaching- and sometimes exceeding- 500lb-ft. Few offerings of
the classic muscle-car era were as brash as the 1970 Chevelle
SS454, which was available with either the LS5 454/360 HP big block
or the even more potent LS6. This premier American muscle car is
among the most popular and sought after today, especially in
convertible form.
