Vehicle Description
This 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu is an interesting classic. It
carries the right classic elements, like its factory-correct colors
and numbers-matching V8. It even upholds its premium Malibu image
with features like the A/C interior. But this hardtop also gives
you that right touch of an upgraded Super Sport nature that always
looks cool. And there were even recent investments in upgrading the
suspension, dual exhaust, four-wheel disc brakes, and more to help
give this a more SS-level feel on the road. The result is quite an
eye-catching classic cruiser.
Pewter Silver is a great timeless color, so we're happy to see a
trim tag that tells us this is factor-correct. The black vinyl roof
is also correct, and that looks right on a premium Malibu. But this
is not just some preserved Chevy. You can tell there has been a
nice investment in this one to give it a bit more attitude. A
respray included an upgraded to SS-style stripes on top. The black
paint not only goes with the vinyl roof but also the upgraded
blackout grille and black background LED headlights. It makes for
the right mix of sporty and sophistication. The same goes for the
later-style Super Sport wheels. Straight body lines, a good gloss,
and form-fitting bumpers make for a total presentation that's quite
attractive while still remaining very vintage.
The black interior goes well with all the exterior accents. So it
makes for a fine package inside and out that will have you leaving
the windows down on this pillarless hardtop. It's a comfortable car
with a smooth dash and plush carpeting. Vintage fans will even
appreciate details like the correct Malibu door panels and working
dome light. A Malibu is a true vintage cruiser, and so it's nice to
have two rows of wide bench seats that are good for both taking
along more friends or just a more personal drive-in night. In fact,
the way to really view this Chevy is as a car that you can cruise
any time. That's why there have been well-integrated upgrades, like
the retro-style AM/FM digital tuner with USB input and the stock
air conditioning controls now leading to an updated system blowing
cold with modern R134a refrigerant.
Under the hood is the numbers-matching 350 cubic-inch V8. It's
showcased correctly with everything from bold orange block paint to
the correct decal on the air grabber. We like how this Chevelle
respects its stock nature with an ultra-tidy engine bay to showcase
the original motor, but if you look underneath, you'll see
something quite cool. The V8 now exhales with added power thanks to
newer headers and a full dual exhaust. So it's stock up top but
more powerful at the bottom. In fact, while you're looking at the
undercharge photos, you're going to see some terrific investments
all done within the last couple of years. It includes a new front
suspension with tubular A-arms, new Bilstein shocks all around, and
an awesome four-wheel power disc brakes upgrade. Add in the
three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, and wide Cooper
Cobra tires, and you can see how this sharp-looking Chevy is great
for all-around driving enjoyment
