Vehicle Description
This Bentley Azure was the personal and favorite car of Oprah
Winfrey. On her 42nd birthday, Oprah Winfrey and her best Friend
Gayle King were being driven in her limo to buy a $117,000 Cartier
bracelet when she spotted this car at a Miami dealership. She fell
in love and told her driver to pull in. She is quoted as saying "Oh
my God, that is the most beautiful car". She had to own the car,
however the dealership told her it was the first of it's kind
display model and not for sale. They offered to order her one. She
told them, it's my birthday and I want to go for a convertible
ride. After some negotiating and dropping $365,000, she got her
wish and was the proud owner of this car. As she went to drive off
the lot it began to rain but she drove off with the top down
anyway. Oprah talks about this car often in many of her interviews.
It has been mentioned in People Magazine as well as others. Oprah
specifically told the story of the day she bought this car in her
autobiography TV documentary. She has also told stories of her and
her best friend Gayle putting on Tina Turner wigs and driving
around with her dogs in the back seat. She has stated that this was
one of her favorite cars she had owned. She owned the car until
2002 when she gave it to a friend of hers in Beverly Hills, who
owned the car until 2011. We purchased the car, and it has been on
display in our cars of the Rich & Famous exhibit. This car has a
lot of great history and was owned by one of the most powerful,
influential, and wealthiest women in history. She has a long list
of impressive accomplishments. It is iron clad documented with DMV
records in Oprah's name.
The Azure is Bentley's performance convertible that comfortably
seats four. Only 229 were made total in 1996. This one has 49,870
original miles and has been very well cared for.
Exterior: It shows beautifully. It's been well cared and lived in
sunny climates. No rust or damage. The paint is polished
beautifully. The chromed alloy wheels look great. The convertible
top is a rich black canvas. This has a rare vertical slat grill,
they switched to mesh right away. When the sun is out all you do is
push one button to engage the rapid, fully automatic convertible
top operation. It detaches from the windshield, the rear boot
opens, the windows go down and the top folds up out of sight.
Interior: It has the finest leather upholstery, burl walnut trim
and Wilton wool carpeting. The parchment looks amazing not to
mention stays mush cooler. It is loaded with automatic power
accessories. This includes power tilt wheel that automatically
moves out of the way when the car is shut off. It has heated memory
seats with lumbar support. The phone is still in the console,
imagine the conversations that one of the most powerful women in
history may have had on that phone!
Engine: Under the hood is a very potent turbocharged 6.75L-385 hp
engine with liquid cooled intercooler, transient boost and digital
fuel injection. It is a very clean looking compartment.
Underside: The suspension is tuned for spirited driving. It's
electronically controlled with different modes including sport
mode. Four-wheel anti lock disc brakes. Four speed automatic
overdrive trans with shift management. The rear end is what Bentley
calls a vicious control differential.
