1 of only 55 Coronet 500s made with a 383 Magnum and a 4-speed! We
have the original fender tag and build sheet to document the car. A
collector purchased it in 2014, it was an unrestored but solid car
with the matching numbers motor. He spent 2 years giving it a high
quality rotisserie restoration. Only 3,800 miles since
finished.
EXTERIOR: It was stripped to a bare shell and put on a rotisserie
so every angle could be easily finessed. It required very little
body work. All original metal except an NOS fender. Repainted its
original Dark Burnt Orange poly color. The paint is laid out evenly
and the clear is polished smooth and glossy. The white Bumble Bee
stripe and top really pop! Both look like new. Windshield was
replaced. The chrome was replated, stainless was polished. Weather
strips and seals were replaced. It is rolling on a set of BFG
radial redline tires and painted rims with poverty wheels.
INTERIOR: I swear it's as close to brand new in here as you can
get. From carpet to headliner, it is mint and it all fits right
too. In front of me are factory rallye gauges and they look new
along with the instrument panel, knobs, gauges, heater controls,
dash pad, steering wheel, glove box etc. The door panels and
armrests are excellent. The seats feel good, the upholstery and
headrests are bright white. Down on the floor the carpet and mats
look like new, the best part is the bench seat shifter sticking out
of the hump. Overhead has a new headliner, visors mirror and dome
light. The seat belts look like new. It has a retro stereo in the
factory hole. Everything functions properly: tachometer, key
buzzer, clock, interior lights, heater blower etc.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: This has the N code 383 high performance Magnum
engine. It is original number match to this car. The motor looks
all stock except for an upgraded dual feed Holley carb. It's very
obvious this engine compartment was completely disassembled and
properly restored. Every component looks clean and proper.
Squirters are hooked up, battery is bolted down, it has hood
insulation, correct hose clamps. It features power steering and
brakes.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Wow, it's beautiful in here too. Pristine metal
and it's all painted and clear coated smooth and glossy. It's
detailed: the marker light housing, tail light housings, the
latches, wiring all look like new. Reproduction weather strip, seat
divider and trunk mat. It has a matching BFG radial red line on a
painted rim. Complete jack assembly.
UNDERSIDE: It was flipped on a rotisserie and every component
underneath the car was removed. Extremely clean original rust free
metal. The frame rails, floors and rockers are dry and smooth. They
were prepped and painted a semi gloss black. The steering and
suspension have been completely rebuilt. Front and back shocks were
replaced. The brake system was completely replaced and upgraded
with disc at all four wheels. It has a custom e-brake assembly. The
fuel system was completely replaced including the tank. Great
sounding dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers and the correct
square tips. Looking up at the motor it is still spotless, new high
torque starter. It has the correct casting codes, dates and the VIN
number by the oil pan matches the car. It was born a 4-speed car
and has a correct trans. The linkage looks new. 8 3/4 rear with
3.55 Sure Grip gears.
SERVICE: We inspected the car and adjusted the choke, rotated the
tires, repaired the passenger door lock and adjusted the
e-brake.
This car is extremely impressive. The fit, finishes and functions
are at the level we are all in search of. It will make its new
owner very proud. The poverty wheels really are the perfect choice
for this non R/T sleeper. Someone ordered this car to either win
some street races or outsmart the insurance company.
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for
virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant
amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my
professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to
assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are
answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video
that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are
displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car, make an
appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment
there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car,
your admission will be refunded, and you will be given a 1 year
membership.
