This isn't Grandma's grocery getter! It's a stick of dynamite with
a 496 stroker under the hood, a 4-speed sticking up between the
bucket seats and a posi in back. It's in a beautiful ruby red
wrapper! The restoration is about 10 years old. We sold the car in
2016 with about 1,500 miles, we just purchased it back and now has
3,800 miles.
EXTERIOR: It looks like a piece of wet candy. I'm very impressed by
the body, it is laser beam straight and all the panels line up
square and flush. There's no rust or damage showing. It has a metal
cowl hood
The paint is laid out evenly the beautiful custom color and the
clear coat has been blocked and polished like glass. The windshield
and rear window were replaced. Overall, the chrome and trim looks
great on the car. It has a great stance sitting on a set of
staggered size wheels. Polished Torque Thrusts: 15s in front, 16s
in back with wider Drag Radial tires.
INTERIOR: It's restored very nicely. The bucket seats have firm
cushions, all the upholstery was replaced. The door panels,
armrests, carpet, headliner, visors were replaced. The dash area is
very nice. The metal was painted like the car, dash pad was
replaced, custom instrument panel with the set of Pro Comp gauges.
Upgraded walnut deluxe steering wheel, JVC stereo with an auxiliary
plug and 6x9 speakers and retractable 3 point seat belts in
front.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Very healthy 496 stroker motor! The invoice
says it got a balanced rotating assembly, performance timing set,
roller cam, bearings, oil pump and more. The heads were completely
rebuilt. It has an endura shine intake, big dual feed 850 Holley
carb, MSD ignition and Hooker headers. Upgraded aluminum radiator
with an overflow bottle and a big electric fan. Dressed up with
some polished valve covers, timing cover, pulleys and alternator.
It features power brakes with a chrome booster. The engine bay is
painted the same beautiful color as the car.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Under the trunk lid and the jamb are painted
slick. Inside is very clean dry metal with a gray spatter finish
paint. Weather strip looks new.
UNDERSIDE: When the car was restored, they rebuilt the front end
and gave it an upgraded swaybar and Polygraphite bushings. Powder
coated frame connectors tie the front to the back. The rear
suspension was rebuilt: springs, bushings and shocks. It's upgraded
with Caltrax traction bars and a sway bar. The brake system was
completely redone: lines and hoses were replaced and it was
upgraded with disc at all four wheels. It has a great sounding
exhaust with a crossover pipe and Flowmaster mufflers. The fuel
system including the tank was replaced. Looking up at the motor it
has a high torque starter. It's a Muncie 4-speed transmission with
a new Hurst shifter and linkage. Heavy duty Ford 9 inch rear end
with 3.50 posi gears. The floors, braces and rockers all appear to
be very dry clean metal.
SERVICE: We inspected the car and spent $3,025 on service. We
replaced the water pump and all the pulleys, tightened the valve
covers, replaced the ashtray, lighter and hazard knob. We repaired
the horns, replaced the fuel gauge, repaired the turn signals,
hooked up the heater core, recalibrated the speedometer, replaced
the rear window channels. We serviced the brakes: replaced the
master cylinder, rear hose, rear pads and resurfaced the front.
This Nova really packs a punch! Hot looking car. When you hit that
key and hear the sound that big block makes your pulse will
quicken. When you release the clutch and shift through those gears
you're going to be in dreamland!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for
virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant
amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my
professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to
assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are
answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video
that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are
displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car, make an
appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment
there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car,
your admission will be refunded, and you will be given a 1 year
membership.
