For Sale: 1996 GMC Suburban in Morgantown, Pennsylvania
Bad guys love 'em, cartels got ta have 'em, and you can't forget
that they're loved by the biggest, baddest authority figures of
them all, moms. This is everything you need to know to get up to
speed on the Chevy Suburban. Suburban is the longest-lasting
moniker in American automotive history. If you see a hoard of black
Suburbans, you know something is going down. These vehicles are
also reliable and easy to work on all over the globe, thanks, in
part, to GM's worldwide parts supplier network. They're everywhere,
and they're durable. There are stories of dudes driving through
hostile territories and taking fire in these things but making it
safely out in a Suburban riddled with bullet holes. Do you know who
else likes being awesome and traveling in an entourage?
Celebrities. The beefy Suburbans came with luxury options and had
plenty of room inside for friends and business partners. Biggie
Smalls was in one when he got shot.
For consignment, a large GMC Suburban from 1996 in a 2500 4x4
package form meaning its off road capable and comes with many
niceties such as leather seating. This rust-free, garage kept,
never seen salt or winter version was purchased by our consigner in
2019 from his father who purchased it in 2003. For a little extra
chutzpah there's a supercharger topping off the big big big block
V8 under the hood and it all looks good while in the process of
working excellent too. So see this version in our Sorth hallway,
and then take it home.
Exterior
Emerald Green Metallic bathes all panels on this truck. It has
chromed front and rear bumpers, some charcoal gray and black trim
accenting, and on the lower portion of the truck we have some
fiberglass molded running boards. Add in a luggage rack, some lower
body moldings with some badging and a black trim piece and tinted
glass is all around and we have a sure fire winner. Shiny drilled
and polished 16-inch 8 lug Mickey Thompson wheels, with 2" spacers
on the rear, are on all 4 corners wrapped in deeply treaded
LT245/75R16 Goodyear Wrangler HT rubber. 4 doors and a rear
gate/clamshell opening give plenty of access to the cabin and
storage rear of this long people mover truck.
Interior
Nice suede like tan broadcloth along with molded tan vinyl and some
lower tan carpeting and several integrated buttons in the arm rest
make up the door panels. These are all very clean with no smudges
in sight. Inside, perfectly aged tan leather seats with a tuck and
roll insert pattern covers the front buckets and second row 80/20
split rear bench. A third-row smaller solid rear bench with the
ability to fold down for more cargo room is on the back. The seats
are all in very nice condition and have the ability to be
configured in many ways depending on your type of cargo/passengers
you are planning on carrying. The clean original dash is up front
having a digital AM/FM/Cassette radio installed along with temp
knobs and a CD player in its own separate compartment below. New
tan carpeting is below, and above is a nice felted tan headliner
complete with some overhead storage and extra AC/Heat for the rear
passengers mounted in the ceiling.
Drivetrain
All expertly detailed, very clean and well maintained as per the
consigner. We see an original 7.4-liter V8 using EFI and it has a
4L60E 4-speed automatic on back with 4.10 axles. All looking very
nice and tidy under this hood and for an extra kick in the pants a
Procharger P1SC supercharger has been installedalong with larger
fuel injectors and a higher output fuel pump. Also noted is that a
411 computer swap was performed too.
Undercarriage
As expected rust free and coated with new black rustproofing. Power
disc brakes are on front, and power drums are reserved for the rear
along independent torsion bar suspension up front and leaf spring
suspension in the rear.
Drive-Ability
A quick starter and good driver with a comfy ride, faster than
expected acceleration and excellent braking. All functions were
working just swimmingly, and frankly I truly believe that the only
thing this SUV won't pass is a gas station.
This Suburban "suburban" hauler can be configured in many ways,
making it a very versatile truck for multiple uses and plenty of
room. All rust free, very clean interior, and mechanically sound
and pumped up engine and drivetrain. A nice example, turn the key
and go.
