The Porsche 911 Carrera that was produced between 1987 and 1989 represented a pivotal era in the icon’s storied history. Belonging to the "G-Series" or "G-Body” generation of 911 (built from ’72-’89), this run’s standout feature was the introduction of the highly sought-after G50 transmission that was originally developed in the famed, 959. The G50 gearbox provided a more refined and precise shifting experience, enhancing the 911's reputation for performance and handling. With a 3.2-liter flat-six engine producing 217 horsepower, the 911 Carrera from this period was no slouch in terms of power, offering an exhilarating driving experience that endeared it to enthusiasts worldwide.
Further complementing the significance of the upgraded transmission was the fact that this very production run, would become the final iteration of one of the longest running designs in automotive history.
