This is a mostly original survivor in great shape! Bought new by a
funeral director, they take excellent care of their cars. 75,700
original miles, it was stored for many years. Very impressive,
massive car. You sure do get a lot for your money: almost 19 feet
and 5,00 lbs of chrome and metal! Really, the style and ride aren't
even comparable to most other cars.
EXTERIOR: There's enough metal here to make a few Teslas! Very
impressive, massive car. It features quad headlights in front and
razor edge tail fins in the back. This is the extended deck body
style which is 8 1/2 inches longer than the standard four door
hardtop. Rust free original metal, it lived out west in a dry
climate. It is straight and it fits beautifully. The doors shut
like a new car. Remarkably it is mostly original paint. I think it
presents itself really well but of course it's going to have some
patina when you get up close. The door jambs are very clean
original, there is an oil change sticker from 1971. The weather
strips are still in good shape. All the chrome and stainless is
original. It's straight and shiny but has some patina. The bullet
grill is in excellent shape. It has a spotlight hut the previous
owner didn't care for it so he removed it. It can be easily
installed back on the car. All four windows roll down smoothly and
it's pillarless. It has wing windows at all four corners. The gas
cap is hidden behind the taillight! It floats on American Classic
radial white wall tires.
INTERIOR: All original interior and it shows very well, it's not
beat up or abused. It has a lot of character. Take a minute to
admire all the shapes, designs, patterns, and the abundance of
chrome! The door panels are worthy of hanging on a wall like art.
The dash area is beautiful, dash pad is excellent. The owner's
manual is in the glove box, interior lights work. Overall, the
upholstery, door panels, carpet, headliner are very good with some
mild staining.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The motor runs smooth as can be. It's a 365-310
hp with a four barrel carburetor. It's all stock including the
valve covers, air cleaner, fuel filter, cloth wrapped choke tube
etc. It features power steering, power brakes and an oil filter.
All the components look proper and tidy. You may have noticed red
horns in front of the radiator, they play the Godfather theme
song!
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Ginormous inside! Under the lid is original and
mint. Inside it still has the complete liner kit and it is still
very much intact. It does have some staining. It also has a white
wall spare and the original wooden wedge from Cadillac for jacking.
The jack is missing.
UNDERSIDE: It's much cleaner than I expected for an original
preserved car. It is absolutely rock solid. I don't see any rust or
patching. Someone cleaned and painted the underside, it looks tidy.
It looks like the swaybar bushings, springs and shocks were
replaced. It has air shocks in the back. Newer dual exhaust system.
The brake hoses have been replaced. Looking up at the motor it is
exceptionally clean, so is the Hydramatic trans. The u-joints have
been replaced recently.
SERVICE: We inspected the car and it passed with flying colors.
You can restore a car over and over, but they can only be original
once. This is a prime example of a very well cared for original
survivor. Don't miss this opportunity!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for
virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant
amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my
professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to
assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are
answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video
that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are
displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car, make an
appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment
there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car,
your admission will be refunded, and you will be given a 1 year
membership.
