For Sale: 1968 Chevrolet El Camino in Volo, Illinois

Vehicle Description

This is a really sharp looking El Camino! The color combination is killer. It's certainly nice enough that you're going to get compliments and you can participate in any car show but it's not so perfect that you can't use it.

EXTERIOR: I'll say it again, this is a beautiful car! The body is extremely clean and straight, from Colorado. The guy that acquired the car for me is a lifelong body man, he checked it out really good. No rust, damage or bubbles showing. The doors shut like new, it has the SS hood. Beautiful Lemans blue is laid out evenly and has a glossy clear coat finish. Only minor imperfections if you get up close and look for them. It also has the white SS stripe. The vinyl top looks new. Chrome and trim overall are good original. The glass is original and has been tinted. It's rolling on a set of restored SS wheels and radial red line tires.

INTERIOR: The white interior really pops against the blue. The door panels and armrests were replaced but it does have an extra hole for the locks. The dash area is good original, showing a little age but not broken or beat up. It has a retro stereo in the factory hole and speakers behind the seats. There is a new tachometer mounted below, an SS emblem above the glove box and a plastic dash cap on top. The automatic shifter is on the floor, it looks like a manual stick shift. It has a set of ProCar sport seats with an aftermarket center console with armrest cushion with cup holders. The headliner looks good it has a working dome light.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: 350 motor with a new FiTech fuel injection on top. It also has an HEI ignition and a FiTech anti surge fuel pump. It features factory air conditioning that was serviced and upgraded to R134 freon. It also has power steering and brakes. The battery is secured properly, wiper motor looks new, alternator is chrome and new horns.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: The tailgate opens and closes easily. The bottom of the tailgate is rust free. lnside the bed is solid original metal that was sprayed in a color matched bedliner. It also has six chrome hooks for securing the cargo and a thick rubber mat on the floor. This is a very usable bed.

UNDERSIDE: It appears to have extremely clean floors, braces, and rockers. It's a rust free underside. It has the F-41 suspension which includes front and rear swaybars and boxed rear control arms. It looks like the front end was rebuilt a while ago. The sway bar does look new. In back it has air shocks. They've upgraded it to four wheel disc brakes, the e-brake is hooked up. Nice sounding dual exhaust with Flowmasters and turn down tips. The fuel tank was replaced. Looking up at the motor it's clean Chevy orange, starter looks fresh. It has been converted to a remote oil filter which is in the wheel well and easier to change. Upgraded 700R-4 overdrive automatic trans. Custom drive shaft leads back to a 10 bolt posi. The rear end cover looks new which means the fluid was changed.

SERVICE: We inspected the car and repaired the reverse lights, the horns, replaced the tachometer and repaired the a/c.

With all the factory features and modern upgrades it has, this makes a great classic you can use!

I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car, make an appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car, your admission will be refunded, and you will be given a 1 year membership.
