Vehicle Description
1970 Chevrolet C10 Pickup
The 1967-72 Chevrolet C/K is one of the most popular, reliable, and
easiest-to-drive classic pickups you can find. This particular
generation marks the turning point when Chevy realized it could
offer truck buyers modern conveniences and comfort options in the
same way it did sedan shoppers-a stunningly simple connection to
make in retrospect, but one that blew the market wide open during a
time when primary rival Ford steadfastly refusing to build anything
other than the most utilitarian models for work use.
Chevrolet produces some of the finest trucks on the planet and has
been doing so for a long time. Within each model range their avid
fans, and this 1969 iteration is no exception. Painstakingly and
lovingly restored and updated with a nice teal paint job, shiny
chrome, new lowered suspension with Air Ride Technologies airbags
in the rear, a new steering box, a custom interior, a 6.0 Liter LQ4
LS engine and modified definitely for the better, we have a winner!
Bingo.
Exterior
All steel all bathed in a nice application of dark teal with a
clear coat, and all looking fabulous save for a few areas of clear
coat peel off and inclusions in the finish. The original grille is
on and in pristine condition. This paves the way for the wide steel
hood which curves over the sides and melts into the fenders. As we
move rearward on either side we note more straight dark teal
painted steel with well minded gaps, but some a black highlighted
belt line trim spear and new black vinyl side moldings have been
added. These sport upper and lower chromed trimmings which sandwich
the black vinyl. Window trimmings are all looking nice and shiny,
and glass is scratch free and shows with newly installed smoked
tint. The bed remains in very good condition with a recently
installed spray in lining for the bed sides and floor all covered
by a new black vinyl tonneau. The tailgate has bright stainless
trimmings up top that curve and melt into the tail lights,
meanwhile down low, CHEVROLET chrome block lettering is dressing up
the black insert with more stainless trim. The rear bumper remains
stock and is finished in near perfect chrome. 17" Ridler wheels are
wrapped in nearly new blackwall rubber and complete the look
splendidly.
Interior
A complete redo inside here with pristine door panels finished in
black horizontally stitched with a sleek Sheridan border and nice
door handles and cranks. Looking inside there is a newly recovered
split bench seat with tuck and roll inserts and vinyl body hugging
bolsters in black. The factory dash has been retained with its
padded black topper and dark teal steel face. The original
gaugeshave been removed in favor of a cluster of Classic
instruments gauges with a white background and black lettering and
offset the teal nicely. An aftermarket AM/FM stereo is installed
into the stock location just below a chrome vent and in front of
the passenger is a teal colored glove box door. Clean black carpet
floods the floors and above is a nicely done black padded vinyl
tuck and roll headliner all being framed by more teal steel.
Drivetrain
Lifting the hood and we are in a land of an all painted teal and
black buttoned up engine bay surrounds. In the center sits the
shining machined to perfection star in the form of a consignor
stated6.0 Liter LQ4 V8 with a consignor believed 30,000miles. This
mill is fed the proper amounts of air and fuel via EFI and an
aluminum radiator with an electric fan is on to keep things cool.
Nearly new headers which dive down under to meet a new exhaust with
Flowmaster mufflers on either side, ending with large chrome tips
behind the rear wheels. On back is a 4L80E 4-speed automatic
transmission with a new crossmember that hands power off to a
12-bolt rear axle weighing in with 3.73 gearing.
Undercarriage
In this very clean environment a few highlights to hit upon. First
off, a 3.5-inch dropped front suspension with new springs, a
newsway bar, and control arms provide the perfect stance and in
back is a new swing arm assembly with new Air Ride Technologies air
bags in the rear and new shocks all around. In front, power disc
brakes work with rearpower drums to bring this hauler to a halt and
an entirely new fuel system is on to support the modern EFI mill.
All black and nicely painted with the shiny add ons and we note the
addition of a new steering box. Beautiful performance.
Drive-Ability
Slipping inside she fired right up and off to the test track we
went. Vintage Air blowing cold and the sound of that LS in the
background all seemed right with the world at that time. And it was
for our test drive, where we had lightning acceleration, smooth
shifting, and a great ride for a pickup truck, even with some good
handling. All functions were up to snuff with the exception of the
radio not turning on, and we were looking good doing it!
A long list of upgrades and customizations put this particulate
C-10 in pretty much a class of its own. Wonderfully trimmed and
painted exterior. lined bed, new interior and a powerful mill under
the hood. Does it get any easier than this?
