Here we have a nice example of the second-generation Chevrolet Corvair, this one a convertible in Monza trim. The Corvair is powered by an air cooled flat six-cylinder engine. This is the110 horsepower two carb version with a 4-speed manual transmission. This Corvair is in excellent mechanical condition; it starts easy, idles steady and has lots of power. The clutch and transmission deliver smooth shifts. Drum brakes are spot on. The car has recent maintenance, a new battery and good tires.
The interior is very nice with minimal signs of wear and all of the instrumentation and lighting work as they should. The original AM radio works but needs an antenna. The top fits well and has no leaks although the white vinyl has some discoloration. The paint is good but does have signs of age with some areas of bubbling and cracking. There is some rust in the rockers and floors but nothing to compromise the structural integrity of the car.
Corvairs have seen steady appreciation and the Gen 2 convertible 4-speeds with the highly reliable two carb engine is the one to own. This driver quality car at this asking price leaves plenty of room to recover any investment in what a moderate restoration project would be. But to be clear this Corvair is a ready driver that is good to go for some fun in the sun cruising that always draws lots of positive reaction and thumbs up.
This classic Corvair is located in Rowlett, Texas and is offered as is where is with a clean Texas Title.
