Vehicle Description
2012 Lotus Evora S
The Lotus Evora is based on the first all-new vehicle platform from
Lotus Cars since the introduction of the Lotus Elise in 1995, (the
Exige and the 2006 Europa S are both derivatives of the Elise). The
Evora was planned to be the first of three vehicles to be built on
the same platform. The Evora is the first product of a five-year
plan started in 2006 to expand the Lotus lineup beyond its
track-specialized offerings and produce a practical road car that
would appeal to the mainstream market. The Evora name keeps the
Lotus tradition of model names that begin with an E. The name is
derived from the words evolution, vogue and aura. Other names
considered were Eagle, Exira and Ethos; Eagle and Ethos were
rejected because they would be difficult for Lotus to claim as a
trademark.
For consignment, a 2012 Lotus Evora S drenched in can't miss is
Papaya Yellow. This racer comes to us as a 2 owner car, and a
somewhat rare bird, as only 50 of the S models were made that year.
S means supercharged and it will produce 345hp. It has the premium
package which is full leather, a 2 plus 2 back seat addition,
heated seats, AC, cruise, navigation, and bluetooth capability. A
full record of service performed is available, and get behind the
wheel for a real kick in the pants for this sports car.
Exterior
Here he comes, here comes Speed Racer, he's a demon on wheels!
Papaya Yellow bathes this low slung speed skate, and it sports some
custom gray striping. A few black accents are noted throughout the
bodywork, which is made up of aluminum tub and steel rear subframe
to take the torque and solidly put it to the rear wheels. The
chassis is a 6000 Series alloy extrusion engineered to be bonded
with an epoxy and riveted construction system. It is a mid-engine
car for low drag efficiency and near perfect 50/50 weight
distribution. A low view of the front almost is reminiscent of the
Corvette design of the same era. A wildly raked windscreen rolls
rearward to a bulbous rear deck. 19 and 20-inch alloy wheels are
wrapped in staggered width low profile rubber from 2021.
Interior
As I slipped past black sculpted leather door panels, I slid into
the racing style high back bucket seat, also in black leather with
some silver accent panels stitched within the inserts and nice red
piping on the edges. Here I can gaze upon a full sweep of
instrumentation under a large crescent shaped visored dash in
black, and it has digital button controls aplenty. A flat bottom
rally wheel reaches for my hands, and in dash central I see a large
screen head unit which includes the stereo controls, a navigation
screen, and a backup cam view of what's behind. In the central
console, is a billet style machined gear shift lever, and a few
billet styled tan knobs. This console races to a rear 2 plus 2
seat, also in black leather and can accommodate 2 additional
passengers. Barf bag not included! Black carpeting covers the
floors and is all clean and shows some red nifty stitched edging.
On the padded dash top are some eyeball AC vents aiming at the
passengers to keep the sweat off their brows. All clean and nicely
preserved in its low mileage state.
Drivetrain
Toyota provides the powerplant which is a 3.5 liter V6 and for some
extra kick comes factory equipped with a supercharger. This package
makes an exhilarating345hp. Meanwhile, a 6 speed manual
transmission on back which turns the rear tires via a 3.77 final
drive.
Undercarriage
For handling the car utilizes forged aluminum double wishbone
suspension with Bilstein high performance gas dampers, and Eibach
coaxial coil springs. Here we are taking racing suspension. All
rust free and with the addition of 4 wheel large power disc brakes,
you can bring the car back to earth quickly and efficiently.
Drive-Ability
My partner in crime drove this car and said the experience was
definitely a good kick in the ass. It has major acceleration with
the supercharger, bias free panic stopping on a dime, and fantastic
handling. All the comforts were in working order save for the AC
not blowing as cold as it should, and this car is nicely buttoned
up...YUP!
Lotus has white the racing history and with recent working in
conjunction with other car companies has produced a real performer
and eye catcher. Comfy interior, lots of extra conveniences and the
Papaya paint is to die for. Just quite the cracking British sports
car which is reliable with the Toyota mill, and well engineered
bonded aluminum bones and body. Lovely!
