DESIGN LEGEND Conceived as the "La Salle II," the Riviera was
Buick's undisputed image and engineering leader from 1963 through
1993 and again from 1995 to 1999. Competing directly with Ford's
Thunderbird in the personal luxury market, the Riviera was a true
"gentleman's muscle car," exemplified by the redesigned 1966-67
models. Somewhat larger with a new 119-inch wheelbase chassis, the
updated Riviera featured a lower, longer, wider presence with a new
fastback roofline and a cleaner profile with vent widows replaced
by new flow-through ventilation. Standard Riviera amenities
included power brakes and steering, an automatic transmission, tilt
steering, and dual exhaust. Rich, fully carpeted interiors included
top-quality upholstery in a wide array of color
combinations.Buick's famed 425 cubic-inch "Nailhead" V-8 engine
powered the Riviera, with standard 4-barrel carburetion and 340
factory-rated horsepower. An optional twin-carburetor intake system
raised output to 360 factory-advertised horsepower. The Riviera's
carefully engineered rear-wheel drive chassis and suspension
delivered outstanding roadholding. Priced from $4,408 new, the
handsomely styled 1966 Riviera struck a chord with buyers, selling
much better than before with 45,348 built in all that year.Few of
these fast, handsome, and luxurious American GT cars remain today
and the high-performance GS (Gran Sport) model offered here is even
more rare and desirable. Featuring the optional, dealer-installed
dual-carburetor intake system, this 1966 Buick Riviera GS is
handsomely presented in its high-quality Blue repaint over a Black
interior with bucket seats up front. Other choice highlights
include a floor console, woodgrain interior trim, tilt steering
with a wood grain-accented wheel, power windows, and a power
antenna. Buick road wheels complete the Rivera's bold exterior
cues. Experience this rare Buick GT car for yourself by calling us
