Vehicle Description
1989 Harley Davidson FXST
Hardtail: these motorcycles have a rigid frame and NO rear
suspension and hence rough on your bum! Softail: these motorcycles
have rear wheel suspension and the wheel is held in place by a
swingarm. Quite often, the suspension might be hidden beneath body
panels. FXST stands for Standard Soft Tail Motorcycle which
translates to easy on the bum!
For consignment, a fully customized 1989 FXST that has been
modified to give it a tad bit of a Steampunk look with some cherry
wood panels, a vintage looking headlight with a star insert, Arlen
Ness V-bar handlebars and hand built Du Val windscreen to name a
few. Get your motor runnin', head out on the highway..lookin' for
adventure and whatever comes your way.
Starting at the very beginning, (a very good place to start), we
lead off with an all chrome Harley Davidson 21-inch front wheel
with chromed axle end covers. It is framed by a black steel and
cherry wood edged Arlen Ness front fender. It is held together and
steered by custom covered stainless fork tube coverings with a hand
built bracket to fasten into a bottom triple tree. On top is a
headlight which is mounted into a hydro-glide aluminum housing that
sports a tri star insert. Just below this headlight in the aluminum
bezel is an orange bullet shaped vintage truck glass lens clearance
lens. Above is a flaming eyeball which cozies up to the custom open
book shaped Du Val tinted glass windscreen. Arlen Ness provides the
V bar handlebars with all chromed controls and lathe turned wood
handle bar covering on the ends. Even the mirrors have cherry
accenting on the stalks. The master cylinder is chromed and has a
wood top and a surfers cross 3D emblem attached top the front.
Gnarly dude! As we look at the chromed visored speedo blackface
gauge it is surrounded by more cherry on top of the tank. The tank
sides are not to be outdone by the cherry emblazoned dash top and
have more cherry inserts over the shiny black paint with the apt
name of "Harley Wood" on their sides.
The bike has custom forward foot controls all chrome with Kyriaken
chrome and rubber pegs for the shift lever and brake pedal. The
exhaust is gleaming Samson Long Cannons and it just roars when you
fire it up. The 1337cc V-twin has many accented with chrome
additions including but not limited to rocker box covers, timing
cover, tappet block covers and large Arlen Ness billet pushrod
covers. The carburetor is an Andrews 44mm adjustable jet carb. The
motor uses Crane ignition, with stainless blue braided plug wires.
There is a chrome vintage coil cover, chrome oil filter, a wedged
chrome air cleaner and a special adapter for the bend carb.
Interesting filler panels for the oil tank and the transmission
which are black powder coated. All oil lines re covered with
braided stainless.
Bringing up the rear are more Arlen Ness creations in the form of a
taildragger fender flanked by saddlebags courtesy a 1974 vintage
bike. They too have the cherry accenting on either side with a
cherry veneer latch system on top. There are adjustable rear shocks
and rear tire. On the very back are dual vintage, (looking like a
Ford model A), tail lights hanging off stalks on either side of the
saddlebags.
For the person who has everything here is truly a custom item you
may want to add to the collection. Plenty of chrome, black paint
and cherry wood and you'll be living large n the highway and at the
drive in turning heads. I'll leave you with this:
Tell your daddy and your mama too
You got something better to do
Than stick around the house the rest of your life
You're eighteen you can do what you like
You'll be the queen of my highway, my motorcycle mama
And we'll see the world from my Harley
...If the chain don't break!
