Vehicle Description
Cruisin Classics is proud to offer to you today this 1963 Ford
Galaxie XL500 Convertible. This Galaxie was top-of -the line in the
Ford line-up for 1963 and it features luxurious styling that makes
everyone take a second look! The red paint is eye-catching, but on
close inspection is driver quality with minor chips, spots, swirls,
and scuffs to be found. This is a big car and a lot of red paint,
but it is accented everywhere you look with stylish brightwork.
There are bright, vertical front "fender-fins" as well as FORD
lettering across the front lip of the hood. The bright eggcrate
grill is flanked by dual side-by-side headlights set in gleaming
bezels and at its center is a large red, white, and blue Ford crest
that doubles as a hood latch (very cool!). The chrome front bumper
shines, but is in overall driver quality. There is a bright spear
that starts at the front of each side and travels to the tail
before looping down and back all the way to the front of the doors
where it ends at a Galaxie XL500 badge. The driver's door handle is
integrated into this accent spear. The windows all have bright trim
and the side mirror and wiper arms continue the theme. The black
vinyl convertible top looks like new and operates easily with a
switch on the dash. The top does have a red boot cover that affixes
to the very nice chrome surround. Great design-work continues at
the rear of the car with 10" circular tail lights that look like
rocket boosters. The rear emulates the front with GALAXIE lettering
on the trunk lip above a bright eggcrate panel on the rear valence
using the same material as the front grill. The gas cap is hidden
by an XL500 badge that flips down. The chrome rear bumper, like the
front, shines but is driver quality. This big, beautiful cruiser
rolls down the road on steel wheels with factory wheel-covers with
faux knock-offs wrapped in Goodyear Decathlon white-line tires.
Under the hood is a 360ci V-8 (NOM) topped with Offenhauser finned
valve covers and a trio of Edelbrock parts - intake, 4-barrel
carburetor, and air cleaner. While under the hood you'll also
notice power steering, power brakes (drums), and cast exhaust
manifolds. The V-8 is mated to a Cruise-O-Matic automatic
transmission that shifts smoothly. Open the drivers door to see
courtesy lights illuminate the stunning red interior. The OEM-style
doorcards are beautifully designed with stylish brightwork and in
good condition. The drivers side has an interior side mirror
control. The wide chrome Ford sill plate invites you in as it
transitions to red hook loop carpet. The red vinyl bucket seats and
rear bench seat are in excellent condition and feature bright
accents on the seat backs. Between the front seats is a center
console with a large armrest and storage box and a shifter set in a
finned chrome accent cover-plate. A crack-free vinyl dash pad sits
atop the original dash and instrumentation, which are starting to
show a little patina with age. The speedometer and gauges work, as
do the clock, wipers, fan, and heater. In the center of the dash is
a JVC AM/FM/Cassette stereo for your favorite cruisin' music. There
is a glovebox ahead of the passenger with an XL500 badge above it.
The driver has a nice 3-spoke red steering wheel with horn ring and
red, white, and blue centercap. In the trunk you'll find the boot
cover, a factory jack, spare tire, and shop manuals for 1962 and 63
Galaxies. There is also an original owners manual with buyer and
dealer info filled out in it (very cool!). If you are looking for a
turn-key cruiser with a drop-top and tons of style, then you will
definitely want to check this one out!
