Introduced in the 1950s, the Fiat 500 (Cinquecento) was launched as an inexpensive and “practical” small car. And, Fiat wasn’t necessarily wrong. This iconic Italian city car can fit comfortably between two parallel parked cars and the interior of the Cinquecento is rather spacious.
Photographed here, our 1963 Fiat 500D “Transformabile” is finished in Pale Green over a Pale Green interior with a black vinyl convertible-top. It is powered by a 499cc air-cooled motor that is mated to a 4-speed manual transmission and was reportedly restored by well-known Italian restoration haus, Carrozeria Gagliardo—prior to being placed in a museum in 2013.
