Vehicle Description
1995 Chevrolet Cheyenne 2500 4x4 Pickup
In 1971, Chevrolet introduced a trim level for second-generation
C/K series trucks called the Chevy Cheyenne. Chevy continued
selling the Cheyenne trim in the US until 1998 when it was
discontinued prior to the Silverado's launch. In 2003, Chevy
resurrected the Cheyenne name for a concept car it showcased at the
North American International Auto Show. The concept Cheyenne
featured innovations like side access doors and bed-mounted cargo
areas. The old Cheyenne trim for the Chevy C/K is no longer
available in the US. However, the Cheyenne's had a long afterlife
over in Mexico, where it's the brand name GM uses for premium
Silverado trims. The General Motors factory in Silao, Guanajuato,
has produced the Chevrolet Silverado and its Cheyenne trim since
2005. Cheyenne is marketed as a high-end trim line in Mexico, while
Silverado is entry-level, with the "work truck" and custom trim
levels. The latest Cheyenne, the 2022 Chevy Cheyenne ZR2, is fitted
with a standard turbocharged engine. The vehicle has a unique
grille and hood, 18-inch black wheels with off-road tires, and a
two-inch raised suspension. It's rumored that a similar trim level
marketed with the same name might be introduced in the US market
soon.
For consignment, a 4th generation Chevy and is in Fleetside form
comes to us as a 1 owner, fully functional and perfect driving
example. The extended cab offers up an additional bench seat in
back with comfy seating positions for 3 adults. 4 wheel drive gives
it snow and off road capabilities, 2500 badging gives us the heavy
payload capacity and is a K version which translated to 4 wheel
drive.
Exterior
Bathed in burgundy, all steel panels are looking fine with no rust
to be seen, however there is an abundance of clear coat peel noted
on just about every panel along with fade out of the paint, very
common for trucks of this era. Upfront, halogen headlights with a
chromed bumper option below are on along with astandard charcoal
gray painted grille. The grille has a slight dulling to it and has
faded just a bit over the years. The crew cab option has 2
additional side windows for the back seat passengers to have a seat
with a view. Way back is the fleetside bed with 4x4 decaling in
silver and bright red that begs us to flip open the hard topcover
and turn our attention to the inside of the bed. Here inside is a
used but not abused black plastic drop in liner and a fence like
cargo extender for the tailgate to handle those extra long loads.
There is a silver painted step-up bumper below and a heavy duty tow
package just below the rear bumper complete with a 7 lead harness.
Rally style wheels are wrapped by good deep tread off road rubber.
God bless "Merica!"
Interior
We can climb aboard and land our butts into a nice checked tweed
gray broadcloth bench that is a 70/30 configuration with the
drivers back and seat being the 70 percent. These seat backs fold
down for easy accessibility to the rear bench in the same
broadcloth coverings. A standard and original black dash front has
all analog gauges, A/C and heat controls and a digital factory
radio/cassette player. The remainder of the dash is in molded gray
plastic and vinyl and is crack and fade free. A fuzzy padded
headliner is above and looking good, and the floors are covered in
gray rubber with a small repeating diamond embossed pattern. A
large fixed rear window is seen on the back of the cab and you can
keep an eye on whatever cargo you may be carrying. All factory and
all in very nicely cared for condition.
Drivetrain
Within the unrestored engine bay is a 5.0 liter V8, that's305ci for
those not using the metric system. This engine is fuel injected and
has a 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission on back. The rear wheels
are driven by a 14-bolt 3.42 gear ratio rear axle. Some light rust
and corrosion are noted throughout this engine and bay. Also noted
is a floor shifted 4x4 transfer case for ease of switching back and
forth from 2 wheel to 4 wheel drive.
Undercarriage
Some surface is noted on this undercarriage but overall things
remain solid. Some heavier surface rust is noted in the rear axle,
spare tire, and rear suspension of this truck. Body hangers are
solid, and the front part of the frame has lighter surface rust
involvement. Independent torsion bar suspension is on front and
leaf springs are on back. Power disc brakes are reserved for the
front, and power drums for the rear. Factory style single exhaust
handles the exhale efficiently and effectively.
Drive-Ability
A quick starter, and good driver and runner. Has plenty of power
and comfy interior. The 4-wheel drive was fully operational and
it's nice as it is not too high to get in and out. Icy cold AC, hot
heat and all functions working as they should, 5 stars and a gold
sticker for this hauler!
A good example of a 1995 Cheyenne 2500 version of an extended cab,
covered bed, 4x4 pickup. Automatic, 1 prior owner, and a towing
package. Go anywhere, pull anything, and plenty of room for all the
gear while doing so.
