Vehicle Description
Cruisin Classics is proud to present to you today this 1969
Chevrolet Chevelle SS! These 1969 models did not use the 138 VIN
identifier for Super Sports (as in years past) and usually you can
only identify a true SS with an order sheet, window sticker or
build sheet. But,... there were 2 color choices in 69 that were an
extra charge on any model except the SS - Daytona Yellow and
Monaco/Hugger Orange. If one of these colors was chosen for a
non-SS car it would result in a "-" on the trim tag, but on an SS
it would have the paint code (72 for Orange, 76 for Yellow) on the
tag. This car was born Orange with a 72 paint code - making it a
true SS! It comes to us today dressed in a driver quality respray
of the original color. While good looking at 5 feet, close
inspection of the paint reveals some fish eyes, runs (especially on
the lower parts of the car), chips, scratches, and cracks. The
front end looks great with a black grill separated by bright
horizontal bars and flanked by dual side-by side LED Halo-ring
headlights. There is a nice "SS 396" badge in the center of the
grill and a gleaming bumper beneath it. The hood stands out with
muscular bulges and bright chrome air vents. A "Chevelle by
Chevrolet" badge adorns the hood and another can be found back on
the trunk lid. A black stripe with pinstripe borders runs the
length of both sides, adding to the sporty look. There is quite a
bit of brightwork to accent all of the orange with chrome dual side
mirrors and handles, bright window trim, drip rail molding, and "SS
396" fender badges. Around back is another bright chrome bumper,
dual flared chrome exhaust tips, and another "SS 396" badge at the
center of the vertical wall of the trunk lid. There is an antenna
on the rear quarter of the passenger side and a rubber plug on the
front fender of the same side where it used to be. This Chevelle
has a great stance as it sits upon black and silver 5-spoke Lexani
forged wheels wrapped in Delinte Thunder D7 tires. Lift the hood to
find a clean and organized black engine bay. At its heart is a
396ci V-8 (NOM) topped with finned black valve covers with 396
call-outs, an Edelbrock Performer intake, a Holley Sniper EFI
system, and a black oval Holley air cleaner. Other items of mention
under the hood include MSD ignition, newer pulleys,
power steering, Hooker headers, aluminum radiator with dual
electric fans, newer hoses belts and wires, and under-hood matting.
This big block V-8 puts down the power via a TH400 automatic
transmission and a 12-bolt rear end with 3:50 Positraction gears -
a fantastic combination! Stopping power comes from power brakes
with a front disc - rear drum combo. Under the car you'll find a
newer exhaust and gas tank. Open the drivers door to reveal a nice
black OEM-style interior. The door panels feature "SS 396" badging
and the drivers door has an interior mirror control. The door
panels are in good condition, but do show a little wear from normal
use. The front vinyl bucket seats are in great condition and are
quite comfortable. The bench seat in back is of the same high
quality. Between the seats is a center console with storage box and
a horse-shoe shifter. The black vinyl dashpad is crack-free and in
good condition. The gauge cluster in the dash looks original and
the gauges all work except fo the oil pressure. Also in the dash
are the climate controls with working heater and fan. You'll notice
from the controls that this was originally an A/C equipped car, but
unfortunately none of the system remains today. There is a working
Pioneer AM/FM/CD stereo to provide some cruisin tunes through two
JBL 6X9's on the rear package tray. Beneath the dash are a working
oil pressure gauge from Summit and the control screen for the
Holley Sniper system. The driver is treated to a black and chrome
3-spoke aftermarket SS steering wheel with working horn on a tilt
column. To start the car, you must put the key in the ignition,
turn it, then push a hidden button under the dash to start the car.
Wipers are present, but are not currently operational. A tight
black vinyl headliner covers the ceiling and black hook loop carpet
covers the floor. The trunk contains a simple grey mat, floormats,
and an extra (new) headlight in its box. This is a true 1969 big
block Chevelle SS with modern fuel injection, power steering and
brakes, and a fantastic color combo - it's destined to grab
attention anywhere it goes! You'll find yourself unable to quit
smiling as you hit the accelerator and cruise down the road in this
classic ride! Give our friendly staff a call today before someone
else makes it theirs!
