The Charger Daytona remains one of the most spectacular cars to ever emerge onto America's showroom floors. While aerodynamics plays a role in all modern vehicle engineering, this special streamlined street car was a revolutionary offering. This 1969 Dodge Hemi Daytona is not only one of the 503 produced in a brief time window between April and June 1969, but also one of the incredibly desirable 22 Hemi Daytona 4-speeds produced in that group. It's additionally the most highly optioned Hemi Daytona known to exist. That alone sets it apart from many of its peers, even in this special group. The Charger Daytona was also unique in its production, converted from one of Dodge's premium Charger R/T releases after its initial construction at the Hamtramck plant by Detroit-area subcontractor Creative Industries. Only two engines were available: the 440 Magnum and the 426 CI Hemi V-8, which is documented here as the original engine to this car. The Hemi needs little introduction, but it was truly significant in this body design, as NASCAR legality was the Daytona's focus and only 40 Hemi examples in total were built. The fact that this car also received the A34 Super Track Pak is also significant, as that option meant the A833 Hemi 4-speed manual transmission and a 4.10-geared Dana 60 9.75 Sure Grip rear end, as well as power front disc brakes, maximum cooling and the Hemi suspension components. The car is very uniquely finished as well, done in its factory F8 Dark Green Metallic with a black rear wing and a documented, matching, one-of-one C6G green vinyl bucket-seat interior. In addition to the C16 console with Hurst shifter and dash layout with the 150 MPH speedometer and N85 Tic-Toc-Tach, this car came with G11 All-Tinted Glass, the R22 AM/8-track radio and P31 Power Windows. Add to this the S81 wood-grain steering wheel, A01 Light Group, G33 remote left-hand mirror and C55 headrest bucket seats with the C62 six-way adjustable driver's seat, and this was truly a deluxe example of the Charger Daytona. The final touches here are color-matched stamped steel wheels with bright hubcaps bearing the Fratzog logo and 15-inch redline tires. This Daytona was likely custom-ordered by the originating dealer, Dodge City Inc. in Phoenix, Arizona, during the brief window the opportunity was offered. This stunning car has been given a full restoration on the original sheet metal and is documented via a copy of its broadcast sheet and a Chrysler Registry Report. The look remains unmistakable; it's a purpose-built spear designed to hammer the competition onto the wall. Under the tutelage of Bobby Isaac, the Charger Daytona did just that in 1970, before the design was rendered uncompetitive by NASCAR rules writers. As a collector car, this 1969 Dodge Hemi Daytona will present a very special opportunity for a new owner to add their name to the Charger Daytona's notoriety. With one-of-one color optioning, the ultimate driveline pa
