Vehicle Description
This 1968 Plymouth Road Runner hardtop is the recipient of a
comprehensive restoration and is powered by its matching-numbers
426ci HEMI engine with dual 4-barrel carburetors and a 727 HEMI
TorqueFlite automatic transmission with a column-mounted shifter,
as well as an 8.75-inch Sure-Grip rear end with 3.23 gears. The
rotisserie restoration was completed by Shawn Wilmot in Cambridge,
MN. It is finished in Matador Red and rides on 15-inch painted
steel wheels, dog-dish hubcaps and Coker red line bias-ply tires.
The interior features a black vinyl bench seat and the uncommonly
seen no-factory-installed radio. This Road Runner is in Galen's
registry and is only one of 62 1968 HEMI Road Runner hardtops known
to exist. It has a recent visual inspection report from Galen's Tag
Service, LLC, and comes with a black-and-white copy of the
Broadcast Sheet. Awards include Winner Circle First Place at 27th
Annual Mopars in the Park in June 2011, Best of Show at Car Craft
Summer Nationals in July 2011, HEMI Heritage Winner at Midwest
Mopars in the Park in 2014 and Restored to Perfection Award at Car
Craft Summer Nationals in July 2014. The car was also invited to
and shown at the 2017 Concours d'Elegance of America at the Inn at
St. Johns.
