October 6, 1966, the revolutionary front-drive Eldorado hit dealer
showrooms, the product of GM design studies beginning with the 1962
XP-727. Featuring breathtaking razor-edged, formal coupe styling
with a long hood and short deck, the original 1967-69 Eldorado
remains a design benchmark today. Equipped with an innovative
front-drive powertrain, the Eldorado delivered excellent
roadholding and outstanding performance with Cadillac's proprietary
V-8 engine, upsized from 429 cubes for 1967 to 472 cubic inches for
1968-69 with 375 horsepower, followed by another bump to 500 cubes
and 400 horsepower for 1970s. Variable-ratio power steering and
automatic rear level control heightened the Eldorado's premium,
GT-style experience. Eldorado fit and finish was outstanding,
interiors plush, and a veritable multitude of color combinations
was available. An instant hit, the new front-drive Eldorado enjoyed
high demand with eager buyers accepting long wait times and
snapping up 17,930 examples in 1967, followed by 24,528 for 1968,
23,333 for 1969, and 28,842 for 1970.Offered in spectacular, very
well-maintained original condition, this 1969 Cadillac Fleetwood
Eldorado clearly benefits from single ownership and care from new
until just recently. Under 47,200 original miles are accumulated
from new. The 472 CI Cadillac V-8 engine sends its 375
factory-rated horsepower output to the road via a 3-speed
Turbo-Hydramatic 400 automatic transmission and Cadillac's
innovative front-wheel drive system. As expected, standard
amenities and factory options are numerous, including power brakes
(disc front), power steering, air conditioning, the original AM
radio, power door locks, power windows, tilt steering, a driver's
side remote mirror, and a wide array of internal and external
lights. Refinished in its Body Tag-correct Code 46 Cordovan (Brown)
Metallic paint approximately 10 years ago, the Eldorado's
unforgettable body style is enhanced by a new-for-1969 Code M Light
Flax "halo" style vinyl roof covering. The original Code 446
Cordovan interior is in excellent as-new condition, trimmed in
Dubonnet Cloth and vinyl upholstery and includes a generous two-way
power front bench seat with central armrest. The trunk compartment
includes a spare wheel/tire and roadside jack. Freshly detailed and
serviced, this exceptionally original 1969 Cadillac Fleetwood
Eldorado represents the landmark first series for Cadillac's first
front-drive model and one of the first such cars produced in
America since the Cord 810/812 of the mid-1930s. Offered in
outstanding condition throughout, this 1969 Cadillac Fleetwood
Eldorado is accompanied by a copy of the original Idaho title
document, issued March 11, 1969, plus the original owner's manual
and Protect-O-Plate. In short, this wonderful find is a must-have
