For Sale: 1958 Mercury Turnpike in Collierville, Tennessee
We recently purchased this fully documented 1958 Mercury Montclair
Turnpike Cruiser from the original owner and have never seen
another like it! One of less than 2900 total produced, this one is
the most desirable two door hardtop body style, with fully
functioning ELECTRIC ROLL-DOWN REAR WINDOW, and upper windshield
"Jet Port" air intakes!
Always kept in a southern garage, this car has NEVER BEEN RESTORED
and looks and feels as close to a new 1958 as one could imagine! It
wears its original paint, stainless, trim, interior, engine and
drivetrain. Actually, the worst flaws we have been able to locate
is minor shoe scuffing in the driver side door sill, a small piece
of black tape at the bottom end of the driver side seat to cover a
small tear in the black vinyl, and a rip in the trunk weather
stripping (although an original NOS replacement comes with the
car!).
Original translucent red floor mats, all original tri-color
upholstery in spotless condition, excellent pit-free chrome on the
dash, original carpets, and showing slightly over 57k ORIGINAL
MILES (as confirmed by the original owner). The exterior appears to
retain about 95% original paint in the original two-tone red and
white colors. (The owner show us two small areas, each no more than
6 sq inches, where two scratches were repaired in the early years
of the car). Excellent exterior chrome and stainless trim (although
I did locate 3 small pits on one of the taillight bezels). No rust
or evidence of any previous injuries other than as described
above.
The car comes with a set of extra taillight lenses (just in case!),
full Mercury service manual set, an extra set of correct wheel
covers and a few other items that were collected just in case
something ever got damaged on the car! It also includes the
original sales receipt, original Mercury Promotional Brochure,
extensive history of maintenance invoices, and complete title
history from day one (including when the title was transferred from
Father to Son when he turned 16!).
Powered by the Marauder 430 ci V8 with 4V carb, push-button
automatic transmission, power steering and power brakes, the car
runs and drives smooth and powerful. She purrs like a kitten
through the factory dual exhaust. And includes Signal-Seeking Radio
for entertainment.
This car is a MUST HAVE for those who seriously appreciate the
special and iconic cars of the 1950's. A once in a lifetime
opportunity to have what is arguably one of the finest examples of
this special marke.
